Re: Good films..
Odd. Maybe it is different and we haven't noticed. Dad basically watches Netflix when Bake Off or Strictly are on as he hates them so he leaves Mum watching those on live TV and goes to watch random stuff on Netflix. We watched Legend while he was over here at mine. I've only watched two things off his recommendation and they were both available over here so might just have been lucky overlaps.

I think it must have been yeah...but travel protip: If you download a movie that is only available in the zone you've downloaded it in, you can watch it in another geo zone even if that movie isn't avaible there, but only if you disconnect from the internet. Otherwise it'll check and won't allow you to watch it.

Re: Good films..
Forgot to mention that I saw The Gray Man on Netflix and that it was a great action/spy thriller. Not amazing, but really good.
Also rewatched the old Tom Cruise movie Collateral with Catherine and it holds up. Still funny to see people run around with the most basic laptops ever, pagers and brick cell phones though.

For me the funniest tech scene is in Goldeneye. Where the girl "infiltrates" a computer shop and demands a high spec pc. By todays standards it doesn't hold up even to the crappiest smart phone.

By first computer I bought was a 486dx2 66mhz with a 800MB hard drive. Which was a major upgrade from the 8mhz 8088xt that my parents bought. So yea... screw these young bastards.

So, watched Samaritan tonight. Omg it was horrible. Please avoid. Also watched the new Thor recently. I liked it, though I'm not happy with how they treated the other Thor. Worth watching, I think, but damn man.

Re: Good films..
I re-watched the Guy Ritchie's King Arthur movie from 2017. Somehow it is was much better this time. Ha, go figure. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1972591/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3

Re: Good films..
Hmm, I remember disliking that movie immensely. I watched 3,000 years of longing. I liked it. Again, pretty depressing. Not sure if it's me liking depressing movies recently, or if it's just that most of the good movies tend to be depressing. Chicken / egg?

Re: Good films..
We finally got around to watching "The Batman". Really enjoyed it but whoever was in charge of sound needs firing. I know virtually all TV and films are bad for it these days but this had to be the worst yet; we needed the TV on 70+ volume when they were talking and had to drop it down about 20 points for any music/combat. Ridiculous.

Re: Good films..
This sounds like a surround sound vs stereo issue. Make sure both the tv and the audio of the film is not on surround sound setting. Essentially what is happening is that the movie is trying to send dialogue to the center speaker but there's nothing there. But then again I saw it in theatre so I'm just guessing here.

Re: Good films..
Yeah we don't use any surround sound settings on anything. It just seems to be a 'thing' these days, especially in so-called gritty dramas. Apparently you can only be serious by grumbling your lines in a raspy whisper. Annoys the crap out of me.

Re: Good films..
Yea, I agree. Seriously issues with audio mixing are pretty common. Also scenes being so dark you can't tell what's going on. Hopefully it's just a phase.
