lol. You must be the inn-rest pnwz0r.
And yeah J, it makes it completely more challenging eh, like you said, even low-lvl mages can be VERY big pains in the asses with a good script and some decent spells. I'm currently cleaning the temple district; radiant heart, improved guarded compound (good fun ), and now the cult of the eyeless quest. Haven't met a lich yet, i'm going kinda slowly. But it's gonna be a major pain. My bards can't cast spells that hurt liches, aye. (lvl 6 and above) So it'll be melee work.
I also like the way they improved 'normal' monsters...like how skeleton warriors cast fear etc., those are little details that make a difference. Anyway, now i got celectial fury i might equip it and have kuroisan hunt me...but he might be a bit too tough atm, we'll see.
In any case: go to valygar's house in the docks and to the second floor...and get ready for ownage, by a gnome. lol.

You know the house next to the shadow thiefs hideout, close to the mad cleric? Not sure but i think it`s empty normally speaking, well now it isn`t anymore. Check it out i would say.
Oh and i take it you haven`t paid a visit to gax yet, they upgraded his defence a tad, which is logical i think, 3 minotaurs is not what i call a proper defence.
Hey i only rested twice since getting out of irenicus` dungeon, so don`t mock me. Next on my list is the copper coronet, then d`arnise keep prolly. I`m not that far either, haven`t visited half of the city yet. Also I accidently gathered a massive amount of gold so now i already have a meeting planned with gaelan or bodhi. That wasn`t supposed to happen, but i`ll see what i`ll do. I don`t like the assassins AI though, they`re way to annoying, so i`ll prolly just side with the shadow thiefs.
Tell me how the gauths/beholders are, prolly a pain in the ass (you didn`t buy shield of balduran right, that would be cheesy). Oh i noticed Joluv isn`t in my game, so no sling of Everard, is he in yours?
*update*
i also noticed other people in the copper coronet have disappeared, lord the group of 3 `though guys` close to korgan and lord jierdan firkraag (this won`t give troubles going to windspear hills will it? i haven`t spoken to him yet)
Anyway slaver quest was easy, true seeing from my anti-paladin is worth gold to dispel mages their mirror image. Turnip golem was a disappointement really.

Your game is a little different from mine, because you not only installed tactics, but also the 'improved battles' mod, hence the extra guardians of Kangaxx. On the whole it doesn't change too manny things, so your game should be relatively alike ours...
I didn't have Joluv either, so I installed him (gamebanshee has the file)...not gotten the shield of balduran yet, but yes, the beholderkin are pretty much bitches. They use the succesion of their rays much more efficiently now, and they'll rip your party apart if you don't pay attention. Even 2 gauths will, at relatively low lvl. I hear ya about the turnip golem...lol

Well actually i think i didn`t install improved battles, dunno, i thought i installed it but it should include improved mencar (wasn`t the case), improved mad cleric in the docks (still a pussy) .. so i think i just forgot to install after placing it into my bg-folder. Or something.
POSSIBLE SPOILER AGAIN, BJ BEWARE !!
From the tactics-readme: Kensai Ryu's Tougher Kangaxx and Guardians
If you visit the tomb of Kangaxx you will find a new guardian in the room
above, the Archlich. He's a level 34/21 Cleric/Mage, and he has another
lich with him and some guards he's brought.
So he should be in your game as well, have fun

hate to say it, but i've given up if i were able to rest i could do it but those bastard dwarves are tough enough without them spawning on you
triede to rest in the golem room but all that happens is i get twice the amount waiting for me! once they hit you with the confusion/web/spiders its goodnight. last attempt there were 4 mages and the screen was just swarming with spiders! and i sware that those fighters are coded to just head straight for your main chr! they ignore anyone else and however many people you put in the way they find a way through!
challenging games are fun, but screw that.
bah..i'm a wuss.
going to uninstall the tactics, its just to tough.

Maybe you can uninstall it, and re-install when you get out of the dungeon. Btw do you get the `you have been awaken in your sleep` (or whatever it is) message or have you rested but get immediately attacked?

you rest and as soon as you wake up they spawn. you need your full spells, etc for the bitches that are hanging around waiting for you, so its really annoying.
2 fights without resting cant be done. well, i cant do it..
i thought about dungeon-be-gone but thats the height of cheese no, screw it, if i cant do it legal i wont do it at all.
btw ox, hell the hell did you manage to sail through with a load of bards?

I think the plus with all the bards is that you get 4 people that can cast spells, so you have a lot more options than you have with a lot of melee types. Like one can cast horror, one magic missile, one flame arrow, one can engage the fight with some protection spells, .. it`s a lot more flexible.
I found the duergar challenging, but not impossible. Sure i had to waste some spells, and got several hits prolly, but maybe you`re not strong enough in melee? Oh and I assume you haven`t met Ilyich yet?
What you could try (dunno if it`s possible depends what you`ve done so far) is after you activated the golem you go to the central room and leave the left part of the first floor for what it is. The second floor is a lot easier, you can gather all the wands, ring of protection, .. and maybe after that you can go back to take the suckers. That is of course if you`ve managed to activate the golem. But i think that must be possible, there aren`t that many difficult encounters before that part.

Hehe...yeah, once you're past the first floor it's a breeze. And like J said, taking on the dwarves is actually easier with the bards, in many ways. When I rest and the dwarves appear, first thing i do is fire 4 (amount of bards) MM's on the mage's ass, which means a near-certain death for the bugger. The might have super-scripts, but their Hp still isn't monstrous, hehe.
I will have it relatively easy with 4 spellcasters in the first part of the game, but when the big-bads with low spell-lvl immunity and stuff come, I might be in for a hard time. On the other hand, the improved bard song stacks...
Take +4 to hit, +4 to damage, +4 to AC, immunity to fear, stun and confusion, +5%MR and immunity to normal weapons, and multiply that by 4.
+16 to hit/damage/ac, +20%MR lol
And a bard playing it automatically gets +10 AC, so with other bards he gets +22.
Erh, so, it's going to become easier, someday.

thing is, i was under the impression that unlike nwn if you use bardsong then if you attack or cast spells you stop singing
my party was:
barb
cleric of helm
mage
archer
minsc
imoen
i think that the archer at that point was a waste of time.

Well, you do...but that don't matter, a barbarian can pretty much rip through everything alone, without melee help or backup spells. Super HP, damage resistances (especially together with hardiness) and rage: whoopass. Barbarians are prolly one of the best classes to solo, in my experience. I soloed irenicus setup with a barbarian, and when I did a game with three partymembers it was the barbarian who stood up to improved abazigal and kept him busy for minutes in a row..the others died pretty fast.
