I crafted a bunch of stuff, but didn't go too crazy. I did manage to build up 3 refined metal... I'll probably craft a hat at some point.

You should wait until you're playing with us to craft it. :) For that special moment where you craft a Fitzy Rick's Hair Fixative and we all lol hard, or an Ushanka and we're all stinking jealous. :(

There seems to be a whole lot of drama around people leaking drop times / using scripts / getting banned and have their wrench removed on several (tf2-)fora.

Just gimme the update allright!

Before ox gets here: engi update is live :P

Won't be able to play untill a couple of hours though, so can't comment yet. I have heard it's wise to pick servers with class limits, since everybody is building stuff as engi and nobody can be bothered pushing the carts etc.

If i play a server without class limits, i'll go demoman (or medic if there are enough decent demomen).

Jeez Satis, have some: :jade:

:P

But yeah, lots of OCD Pokémon kiddies on the forums raging because of the golden wrenches, because they're random and so exclusive they can't get one FOR SURE by playing and idling 24/7. I crafted everything to shit in the past week and didn't get anything, unfortunately. The closest I got to finding a golden wrench was when I got killed by an engi wielding one yesterday.

As for the Drunken F00l situation (the guy who designed the Backpack Examiner and just got banned like J said): he had a list of the exact drop times of the wrenches from an unknown Valve employee, then he set up a third-party scrip that allowed him to craft metal around the exact second he would need to to get the wrench. Needless to say, a lot of people were pissed off that such a big community name got a golden wrench in addition to his community items and so forth and yelled foul. Valve investigated it and found out about the script and the leaked info, and took his wrench and banned his account. They did the same with some friends of his who he gave the same info. They banned them for the scripts btw, not the leaked list. Drunken F00l has been surprisingly ok with it and has multiple accounts anyway. It's pretty bizarre to me that such a crafty man (created many legendary tools for TF2) really thought he can get away with something as obvious as this. Pretty dumb.

@ Engi update: omg it looks sweet!! I love being a battle engi but often get owned by spies when leaving my sentry, so guess what I'll be doing now. :D Not sure if I'll find time to play tonight but we'll see. Engineer can MOVE their buildings now btw!

Oh and we played a bit with me, Derf, O'Cram, J and Shiny yesterday. Shiny spoke - oh my! :o

heh... Shiny's been playing a LOT. And she's becoming a decent player (in my opinion). I wish she'd expressed an interest in TF2 years ago. :P

I'll be playing TF2 tonight, I'm sure. I look forward to hopefully unlocking some engie drops. Or, failing that, going demo / medic and pwning a lot of people that can't play engie well.

Small update since i got some TF2-time in:

being able to move your stuff ROCKS! Honestly, it makes the engi much more valuable, especially in offence: you build your lvl 3 sg somewhere, take it on your back and plant it near the enemy. Or you have your lvl 3 dispenser ready so you can build up a base real quickly.

I've got 8 achievements or so, meaning i unlocked the new shotgun. It's not bad, nothing worldshocking. I'd like to see how controlling your sg works, so gonna have to try to get some engi-time in.

Oh and i mainly played as demo today, dunno how many sgs i destroyed today, but it's insane :P

Yea, Shiny was raging about the quantity of engies. Having been through several of these updates, I understand what's to be expected. I'll play eventually, most assuredly. I'm so glad the engie has an update.

Post Re: Team Fortress 2
Most servers i normally play on (that are in my favorite/history list) have a class limit. So not more than 3 engineers, which makes it less frustrating :P

Wrangler dropped for me, haven't had the time or opportunity to test it out in a combat situation (of course with a class limit you have to be lucky to be able to play engi), did try it on a deserted server. Seems pretty fun and you can fire your rockets to the other part of the screen. Bit of a star wars feeling as well.

Oh if anyone would like to craft the new wrench: 1 scrap metal + 1 ambassador does the trick.

I've mostly played spy since the engineer update. It's pretty awesome. Engineers using the wrangler actually are a really nice target for you, since their sentry won't fire without explicit control from them when they're using the wrangler. So you just backstab the bastards, sap their shit and make off. It's harder when there's an engi near with a regular sentry, though, but still. Have had to adjust my spy style a bit too since I lost all my shit and am now on the regular spy watch again.

Haven't played engi yet and no drops either, but some of their new stuff looks really fun. The mini-sentries for example are a real pain for lighter classes (scout, pyro, spies, etc). Most soldiers, demoman, heavies and so forth can easily take it out before dying since it is so weak, but it's a great addition. And god, engineers with frontier justice and a shitload of crits lined up are DANGEROUS. :o

Haven't played the new maps yet either. All in due time I suppose. :) In the meantime i'll be sapping and stabbing...that sounded wrong. But you know.

Post Re: Team Fortress 2
Just had a bit of an epic win. Typically, our team was a but shit but me and Ox went special forces - deep penetration :) - and practically won it. Ox hauled the last intel back to base as I healed him. It was something like a 40 minute game with both teams heavily spamming sentries, so progress was grindy and tough. At one point the enemy team started getting really organised and pushed up hard, but me and Ox wore them down and broke that shit down.

We were like...

Ox & Derf

Wow got to say I loved that - but HATE HATE HATE the update so far. It's almost like no one wants to play anymore. Ah well. I like playing engineer although I am still learning it but I like the team work and playing medic of the previous release. I'm sure it will calm down but for now pfft.

In many cases, when Derf drops in and we start doing coordinated medic-heavy stuff, we single-handedly tilt the balance to our team. Like I would be on a team that hasbeen trying for mintues to cap a final point, derf drops in and we cap it on the first uber. 8-)

It can be really frustrating too, though, like that game he mentioned - we couldn't make much headway because of the 3-4 sentries in the courtyard (I'd just get pushed in a corner until the uber wore off, really annoying) and if we did we just found ourselves within enemy territory alone because our team didn't follow or use our uber to come out and blast stuff.

That intel steal was hilarious tho. You know Turbine right? CTF map with big, uh, turbines in the courtyard? We snuck up the ladder to the enemies 'air vent', cleared it, then moved on to the intel room, dropped in and killed a few mofoes, stole the intel, then started raping the enemy team in the back (their defense line was very advanced). Then I got raped by a sniper or spy and dropped the intel, but a friendly spy brought it right to our door and we escorted it to the intel room. third capture, game over. :) Good times.

You know how bad the situation is of a heavy (!) and his medics are the ones carrying intel back to your intel room though.
