More L4D2 footage. Hilariously bad players again. Nothing spectacular but it's worth seeing them just for the Jockeys. They look like a pain.

This is awesome. You remember the L4D2 boycott group right? Well, Valve flew two major figures of the movement over to their HQ and gave them a full tour showing the continued development for the original L4D and the dedication they're giving to L4D2. The guys have completely turned around and have stated that they are now sure that L4D won't be abandoned and that L4D2 isn't the "rush job sequel" they thought it would be.

More info there. :) You know what happened then? Their fellow haters turned on THEM, hahaha. Man. This is too good to be true, seeing these trolls tear into each other. I love you Valve, I really do. :)

Even cooler: a modder for L4D heard about it and sent gabe an email asking if HE could come over too to show is campaign. Check the link for what happened next. If I had a paypal account I'd donate a few bucks.

people take this shit way too seriously. Oh well, whatever, everyone needs something, I guess. Funny at the reverse boycott.

I donated 15 bucks for the heck of it - it's a great silly idea. Guy raised 1000 bucks in one day, and will probably have at least 2000 tomorrow. :D More than enough to fly Gabe Newell and Erik Johnson over to Australia.

If the entire thing falls through he'll just donate everything to Child's Play, Penny Arcade's charity fund which gets consoles and games for orphanages and children's hospitals. But knowing Valve a little I see Gabe and Erik actually making the trip, though at Valve's expenses and with the money ending in charity all the same.

Gotta love the intarwebz.

EDIT; also, one of the people who donated was Valve's Robin Walker:

Quote:

This is Robin Walker, from Valve. The rest of us at Valve would sure appreciate a couple of days without Erik around, so thanks for organising this!

Quick question though: if I donated more, would you buy a one-way ticket for him?

Robin.

:)

Well, it's done: in a few days he managed to raise over 3000 bucks from mostly random internet contributors, overblowing his target by a good deal. Gabe Newell couldn't just say no to the whole thing now! He just responded:

Quote:
The English language lacks the words to express the level of excitement Erik and I feel that you and your friends have pulled this off. Give us some time to organize our affairs, as we are trying to ship a product, and then we’ll let you know the time and date of our arrival. Give our best to Robin’s mother, as she is apparently a neighbor of yours.

Gabe & Erik

Man, Valve 4 life. Can you imagine another high profile company's CEO replying joking e-mails from random modders in the first place, then going along in the joke and ultimately, as it stands, actually flying to the other side of the world to preview this guy's custom campaign? Lub!

L4D2 is up for pre-order on steam, with a small discount, early access to the demo and the baseballbat in-game exclusive item as bait. I couldn't care (much) less about the bat, but the early demo access and the discount sound good, seeing as I'm going to buy the game anyway.

Anyone else pre-ordering?

EDIT: I just realized something...

The pre-order discount for a single purchase makes the buying price 45€. BUT, the 'four pack' (where one person buys 4 for him and his friends) is 135€, which is only 33,5€ per person.

So...if one of us would purchase a four pack and we can agree on some sort of way to pay that person, we would all enjoy a nice discount.

Satis and/or Shiny are probably the best choice, since they are buying two copies anyway (I assume). So if they feel like it and if two of us here are interested we can easily set this up. Us euros would even enjoy a currency advantage on top of that. :)

It's just an idea, but if everyone's cool with it we could stand to save a good bit of cash. I can paypal money, for one. Dunno if that helps. Bank transfers will probably be a bit harder what with European-American differences (if I am correct). They would be an option if we would do it with 4 euros, I think.

EDIT: btw, the price per unit is 26€ in the 4pack, coz the cost is 103€.

Seriously? My steam definitely says 134€. :( Must be the Estonian price?

Btw, I just checked and it'd be even cheaper if Derf made the 4-pack purchase. The British price is only 20 quid per person, which is cheaper than both the European and American price.

Shiny and I would be willing to do it, but we'd need to know who we're buying for and obviously some method of reimbursement.

Wtf Peltz' euro price is virtually identical to Satis' dollar price converted. :?

Clearly us N-W Euro types are getting the shaft again.

I'm not sure if Peltz has a motivation to go through this carrousel anymore then. Then again, he'd still save 10 € on the 4-pack discount. What say you, Mr. Estonia? :)

Satis, www.paypal.com is the biggest money transfer/operator online and is used mainly by the users of ebay and similar sites to make secure online transactions without using credit/debit cards and direct bank payments. It's especially handy when doing trans-Atlantic payments.

Signing up is free and easy. You can top up and withdraw money straight from or to a bank account or credit card. They charge some fees on transactions but they're largely neglectable (especially given the profit we make on the 4-pack and currency stuff).

I can pay you in a matter of a day or two when you want, all I need to do is top up my account a bit.

Perhaps we should take a moment to see how many exactly are going to buy it.

At the moment we have 6 people (i hope): Satis, Shiny, Ox, Derf, Ocram and me. Derf has to talk to the mighty porn king if he is interested.

So if we can find additional 2 people we can set up the purchase of 2 4packs and currently we have some manovering room as to who groups up with who.
