Thats false. Democrate Liberals are supporters of big government. More government control, more hands of government in what people do. The democratic party and the liberals that run it or more akin to socialism.

I think you misunderstand. Libertarian is not a democrat or a liberal. It is its own political belief system.

Most libertarians are actually conservative. They all support a reduction in government, which is what defines the libertarian view point.

The libertarian candidate for president this election is Michael Badnarik. Don't know squat about him, and no way in hell will he win.

O I see your thinking there.

When I think of Libertarian's I think of liberals ( in terms of far left wing democrates )

lol. Satis is quite right tho, I know other Americans who refer to themselves as "conservatives", in that they say that want to 'return to the base of the constitution', and strive for less government and more personal rights. (right to bear arms and whatnot) While there's bound to be some distinction that I'm not gonna be exploring here; what they said always reminded me of libertarianism. To use a Dick quote:

“The USSR turned fascist in Stalin’s timeâ€

Politics is very unsystemactical. Libertarians sound as if theyre the same as the Conservatives in the UK, howvever they are ultimately very different.

Well ironically Kerry and Bush do have more differences then they claim to have, but simply because they have to win the moderate voters, who are inbetween the standpoints of the two parties, they can't get too radical, in fear of losing those moderate voters.

I think a healthy democracy should have at least three-four main parties forming coalitions.

Well Kerry is alot like Bush on the days he changes his mind due to political pressure. I mean some days Kerry supports the war with Iraq and thinks Saddam should have been removed, then others hes on the other side of the issue. So I guess it just depends on that day, if Bush and Kerry are different or not.

hehe.....I think either one would say what they believe they ought to say in order to get elected. I don't trust any career politician. And i'm not the only one. Which is why we have 2 state governors that were never in politics prior to running for governor.

What's shocking is, these two guys are doing alot more good for their states than any politician has in a very long time.

Do you think democracy is becoming too centralised on a president?

me? No. Not in this country, at least. He's got alot of power, but I think Congress has more power. In fact, I think they have too much power. If there's any major threat to democracy, I think Congress is the biggest one.

In the Uk there is consideable criticism toward a shift from Prime ministerialism to Presidency, especially in Blair, which means centralisation. Personally, i despise all kinds of characyterisation in democracy.

Is characyterisation a word or just characterisation misspelled? :)

lol, no i means characterisation. In the sence that stupid people consider personality as a factor of whether a president is competent or not.

I don`t fully agree with the 'stupid people' reference, but you`re right if you`re saying that politics are more a popularity vote. Hey that guy seems an okay guy, let`s vote for him. Hey he`s funny, i vote for that guy. Mm she`s cute i vote for her. And so on and so on.

Very often it`s not about ideas.

I agree. People just find politics less interesting than their episode of Eastenders.
