Btw I lost the match against suga wit 1-3 as well, and now I can clearly see that good defence and midfield are important, my stats can show that.
Fortunately I have just bought a good midfielder, and I've spotted some decent defenders as well.

Hehe, Suga pretty much owned you But damn, how bad are you ppl's midfields?! lol But yeah, pump up them midfields!

Btw, i have quite a few (relatively) good defenders, so if i'd sell anyone i'd let you know, so you might have a bargain.

I love my defenders. No wonder i play with a 5-4-1 eh, my best players are back players. In fact, since i played counter-attack just before strengthening my midfield; Monsan is top scorer of my team with 3 goals lol.

But that's more of an attacker than a midfielder man...i would put him up front. Whatever you do, try to have at least man on the midfield. Possesion creates chances, the ratings of the defenders and the attackers make out if the chances are made into goals yes or no. So 4-33 wouldn't be the best idea no, a 3-5-2 (with an attacking midfielder if you like) is considered the best overall tatcic; and 3-4-3 can be pretty good too.

3-4-3 sounds good. I'll try that. I'm buying another midfielder anyway (I already placed a bid but I had forgotten, but I couldn't find a way to retreat so I decided to buy him). Now only one or two extra defenders and I should be able to win matches again.

EDIT: Where can I change my formation? I can't find it anywhere.

You just change everything from your match setup screen (the green football-field thing screen) and choose "extra central defender", "extra midfielder", "extra attacker" etc. depnding on the tactic you're thinking of.

I play 5-4-1 so i just put one of the 2 strikers of the standard 4-4-2 position as "extra central defender".


Btw; just cos you wondered twice some time ago if "supporters" (ppl who donate to hattrick) get extra options: nope, they have just the same game and options as you do, however, they DO have a lot of "extra's" that make stuff more fun or easier. (can design their own logo, issue "press releases", have a shortlist for 5 teams and 5 players, etc...nothing fundamental)

Ah that's good, I don't want any press releases anyway, best surprise them.

It's a little lame that you can't just select your formation, but that you have to do it via that re-route. But the interface of this game isn't really good though about anyway.

That was a pretty surprising game.

I was playing 4-5-1.
I think it suits what sort of players i have at the moment.
I have a lot of forwards, with okay midfield abilities, and only a few good defenders.
I definately have to pump up that midfield though, i'm training playmaking at the moment...
I better go search through the transfer lists!

I think eventually i would like to try 3-5-2... but i'd need kick ass defenders hehehe
