Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
I went thyla taming. A mix of normal and R's, none higher than 90 though. I need to find some better ones as there is an underwater cave right by my base but I got a little bit destroyed in there. I have some basilos now too so the ocean is ripe for exploring. While getting the thylas I found a dung beetle cave too. I've just set up a greenhouse so might go get a few to make fertiliser.

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
I went back and tamed 4 more dung beetles today. Then I went to tame a megachelon. Oh boy, that ocean is insane. Alpha megalodons everywhere. I got one turtle to start taming up once but it got murdered by all the megs that spawned. Then I couldn't get the swarms to actually start taming anything again (on the rare occasions I could even get some close enough). Every turtle had 3 or 4 sharks trying to eat it, almost each pack had an alpha in it, it was serious pain. I just want to tame one, even a low level, to mess about with. Might resort to a forcetame at some point.

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
I see you still playing Satis, more pics please I logged on today forgetting I'd been after the giant turtles and had logged out by them. Face to face with a 150 male so I figured "forcetame". Done. Then saw a 100 female right next to the microbes with no sharks around so decided to try it. Took me 3 attempts as a shark kept appearing at around 90% and biting her before I could stop it, but I got her the proper way. Then there was a funky coloured one (according to the mod I use, you can't tell underwater) level 20 male so decided to tame that one properly as well just to see what he looked like. Disappointed to see low levels don't tame up any faster so if you're going for one, make it a high level. Also disappointed as half the regions don't show on them so the funky coloured one isn't overly funky. He does have a dark red shell though. I may set one up each side of my island and use them as ferries for land critters to each of the 3 other areas. I finally got a chemistry bench made up so my crafting stations are all sorted. I also hit level 96 so I can ride my lost island giga when I go back there! No more gigas have spawned on Fjordur yet for me though. But having hit that mark I decided to go and scout for some and upon finding none, found myself in the wyvern trench. Most of the eggs were trash but I got a 150 and 160 (both hatched to female). I then got 2 level 20s that are identical but came from different eggs, and 2 level 60s, one which has some event colouring. I had to hatch the low level ones just to get a male. I did get another 60 and 50 after that but not hatched those; may tame a basilisk with them.

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
Sorry for my lack of posting... it hasn't been for lack of playing, I assure you.
One of the guys we're playing with went into the Asgard region and tamed a couple (breeding) Shadowmanes... those are now my main mount, instead of the Thyla. They are insanely overpowered. They swim faster than fish! So long as you can keep from drowning, they're as good underwater as they are out of it. They can't climb walls, but they can jump crazy distances. Unfortunately they're really difficult to tame... thankfully I didn't have to. I did get some Basils, though. At any rate, I need to get some pics.
These are of "The Tower", which is our insanely huge tower base I built. Shiny and I are going on vacation soon, so most of the dinos are put away. I'll need to update the pics once everything is out again.

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
Those are some awesome screenshots. Shiny has an amazing balcony. I always forget about the human stuff, like toilets etc! Spend all my time taming and breeding really. I should take a look at my own char for once lol.
I had a good taming session today. Got 5 R-Snow Owls, 4 males 1 female. Only the female was a decent level (145) but the males had pretty colours. I found a high level male but it got destroyed by two trikes before I could intervene so I ate them in revenge. I did find another but had accidentally destroyed a piece of my trap so went back to my base to grab another piece and of course couldn't find the owl again. I also got two high level male rexes. I've seen a high level female but can't remember where. Finally I got a max level baryonyx but he tamed out with pretty average stats.
I'll get some pics of the snow owls at some point. Next session I probably need to breed them and my wyverns plus track down a high level female rex.

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
Nice. Snow owls are actually really cool... they don't have the weight capacity of an argy, nor can they pick up other tames (like ankys and doedies), but they're faster than argies, they can heal, they make owl pellets (which have their own uses), and they can do the swooping thing like griffins. I really like em. Regarding Wyverns, I have a 190 fire wyvern egg, but haven't taken the time to deal with trapping and milking a female. Only in Ark do those words make sense. Needless to say, it's still in my fridge. We did recently get some magmasaur eggs though. Since we're back from vacation, Shiny has pulled out many of her creatures again... I'll need to take some more screenshots so you can see the insanity.

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
Yep I got obsessed with Snow Owls on Lost Island. Argys are still necessary for weighty things but everything else, owls do better. I have some stuff now from cheating lol. I got fed up the other day so I used some forcetames. Namely on 2 shadowmanes as one was a gorgeous 140 green male so I couldn't pass him up, then a low level female to go with him. I also went to get rock drake eggs on my low level andrewsarchus I finally tamed and was doing ok clearly the room by setting my thyla and dire wolf (who I'd rescued, he was trapped there for weeks since I last tried shadowmane taming) until about 6 rock drakes appeared out of nowhere and went for me instead, killing the andrew and then me. I had no hazmat suit as the andrew saddle works like one so I was just dead super quick. Got fed up, flew back with infinite stats and stole all their eggs, then decided sod it and went to steal 2 magmasaur eggs too. I prefer breeding to taming anyway so I don't feel *too* guilty. Also I have my rates up high enough I don't need to feed wyvern babies at all and just cryo/uncryo if they want silly things like milk

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
Lol... hey, to each their own. We have taming set to 8x, but raising/imprinting is still a fairly time-consuming process. The magmasaur took 7 imprints, with 5 hours and change between each one. I'm not sure how useful this thing will really be, to be honest. I took it out and ate some rocks with it, but it's a bit slow and the smelter feature is equivalent to the old, non industrial smelter. I did manage to kill an alpha carno with it though, which isn't bad for a normal saddle and a magmasaur without a whole lot of levels yet. *shrug*

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
Loving the pics! Especially the birds. I need to get back on breeding my argies and start on my snow owls. I spotted the 130 female that had eluded me the other day again but keep forgetting to go tame it.
I'll just leave a pic of my row of death. I've been churning out shadowmanes and these were the rejects about to be slaughtered.

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
That tower looks awesome! Is there any risk of something attacking it at the base and the whole thing coming down though? Also, all this talk about Shiny's balcony...I was expecting something good until Satis referred to his own "large balcony" and I was like, errh pass.

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
The tower's made of metal, so outside of a PvP server there's no chance of it being collapsed. We're currently working on killing world bosses now, but it's slow going.

Next week Ark is going to be free on epic if anyone wants to give it a spin or invite friends to multiplayer.

New dino is out Satis. I will regale you with my tales of how I got it tomorrow (there was cheating but now a land of terror) but the babies are hilarious looking

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
Ok my update on the carcharodontosaurus (think that's its name). I haven't seen a giga in months on Fjordur despite trying to get them to spawn by killing indiscriminately (haven't done a wild dino wipe though, got some I want to tame). The new dino shares a spawn with gigas so I spent another 2 hours last night killing and respawning with no luck. So I figured sod it, I'm playing singleplayer and just don't care, let's spawn some in. I ended up spawning and forcetaming some higher level ones that appeared but most of the ones I spawned were less than 60. So now half the southern coast is covered in wild ones. Whenever I venture over there I'm in for a BIG fight! I figure that will make me earn having spawned in these cheat ones

Re: Pevil (trying to) survive Ark
Ah nice, didn't know there was a new dino coming! Haven't seen any spawn on Fjordur yet. We actually did a bunch of Giga hunting yesterday to farm giga hearts for the dragon boss, but haven't seen those yet. Still playing the game very occasionally trying to beat all the bosses. After we nail that dragon boss a few times on Alpha, on to Fenrisulfr and the unique pet it drops. Once we get that finally done (at this rate it'll be months) we'll start checking out other maps. Hopefully.
