Re: Funny Stuff II
Not a day goes by where I didn't wish I'd become an electrician or a plumber haha. I have a few friends who didn't go to college and learned a trade instead and they are all either financially independent now (house paid off, two incomes, money in the bank) or plain rich (their own business with people working for them). All of my uni friends are just basic teachers or admin workers. In some ways I'm probably one of the more successful among them. Imagine that.

Re: Funny Stuff II
I know, same, some kind of trade job for sure. Niall has missed a trick really as he basically does electrics (basic stuff) and DIY in his job building show stands, but he has no qualifications. It's all been learnt on the job. Others who work with him though are technically a painter/decorater and an electrician by trade and they get paid way more doing their normal jobs than helping out with the show stuff. Ok the hours aren't great if you quote things too optimistically time-wise, or if you're on call out, but it's always going to be needed. Virtually everyone I know who did a less practical qualification/degree is either in some crappy office job with nothing to do with their degree, or they've been unemployed for years (2 friends with English Lit masters, I'm looking at you). Whilst I just drift along in a crappy office job with no degree and no ambition

I have ambition, just no real prospects. There's only so far you can climb to in field like mine. So I really need to reeducate myself into something more useful.
But with my gf coming into my life, my parents needing help and all the travel I had to put it on hold. Maybe once she is living with me.

Re: Funny Stuff II
I was wondering if I should post this or not. Because the US still has some of the smartest people on the planet. But the story starting at 9:45 had me literally gasping for air because of uncontrollable laughter. I was laughing and thinking that I should probably dial the emergency number because I cant stop.

Re: Funny Stuff II
WTAF at that 9.45 story... no wonder a lot of Americans are considered dumb if they have teachers like that!

Re: Funny Stuff II
Being a teacher, especially in the lower grade levels, is a low paid and thankless job. The fact it attracts a lot of idiots doesn't surprise me. That said, I didn't spend much time in the US as a kid, so I wasn't subject to too much of the normal public school system. Thankfully. I've also been to Canada a few times. I think they only just recently got electricity.
