oh wow, nope, I hadn't heard of this. Kinda a weird flying squirrel/butterfly that'll try to eat off your face if you wear chitin. Good to know.

Yeah it's odd looking but sounds quite fun. There's a patch next week that makes 2 unbreedable species breedable but doesn't say which yet. Hoping griffin is one.

I had a few hours of breeding and levelling tonight. I had left it halfway through imprinting a basilo baby so I spent about an hour finishing that off then took it out to level. In between imprints I had a quick explore nearby on one of my other basilos and found an underwater cave. No drops but another artifact and it popped out in the giant beehive! I also found a tiny pool that had spawned a megalodon, 2 mantas, 5 icthyosaurus' and a leeds! There was a high level pair of icthys, a 130 and a 140 so tamed them both and one of them had 40 levels in HP. The other was very average and won't add to my breeding pool.

The last few hours have been spent destroying all megalodons, mantas, cnidaria, eels, squids and mosas that came near me. The basilo baby started at 206 and is somewhere in the 240s now. ~100k health, 2000 weight, 1000% melee and I started putting a few points into speed (only about 122% so far from 120% base).

Back on the Ark addiction now.

I bred the new dolphins earlier but didn't get the highest offspring I could. I also found a 140 female baryonyx so got her tamed up, easily the best I've tamed so far, then also tamed a 90 female who was tamed purely for her colours (sort of chestnut with pale stripes). I went exploring on the basilo again and found right below my water base is a breeding pair of mosas. A 140 and a 150! So I left them there and hope to go back to tame them at some point. Then I grabbed a spino and went exploring on land. I found something I really want. I have a picture but I don't want to share it yet. I'm hoping to re-find the dino I took a picture of and get it tamed and would rather show you the picture of the tamed one. That said, after I saw it I of course headed back to base to get stuff to trap it. When I returned, could I find it anywhere? Of course not. Spent about 2 hours flying around this evening looking for the damn thing.

Patch has been released while I was playing. The new breedables are achatinas and rock drakes. And ankys can now auto harvest.

Edit: out of curiosity I've downloaded LArkator, a program that reads your save files and tells you what is spawned. The dino I wanted to tame has gone So here's the picture.

Niall is in trouble. He said something last night along the lines of "well nothing seems to be a risk to you in Ark now" and I told him if I die next time I play, I'm blaming him. Well, I'm blaming him.

First of all, the good news. I found a female unicorn, 90 wild. So I am currently waiting for her to give birth. I also had another 140 female baryonyx spawn by my base so tamed that up too. I went back to the old base to go in the cave under it. It's not so much a cave as some old weird temple. Screenshot below. Beautiful place. There was a level 20 megalania still in the entrance but when I shot at it, it fell under the map. Nothing else in there. Then I went to explore the snowy cave behind the waterfall. Death by polar bear. I think a purlovia must've attacked as I got knocked off my thyla by something but there wasn't one when I returned, just the polar bears and yetis. I died a couple of times in that cave and lost my otter. Gave up after 2 deaths as all my armour was buggered then died on the way home thanks to being freezing. In mid-air. Flew back to get my corpse and wyverns but after 10 minutes of trying to position my wyvern just so in order to grab my inventory whilst stood on its back I gave up and just used the fly cheat.

Back to my base, breed the otters to replace the lost one and set the unicorns going. 25 mins left on each, figured I'd go north as I'd spotted on LArkator another 90 female unicorn (I'm trying not to use it too much but for rare stuff, or just to see if there are things spawned, I might look occasionally). That didn't go well. Almost got to where it should be... bastard thyla flys at me and knocks me off the wyvern. Whistled attack but I'm dead. It's level 145. Would be nice to tame. Fly back, knocked off again. Why the hell didn't my wyvern attack it? I told it to! Dead again. Pissed off now so fly cheat back on, whistle both wyverns on it from afar. Shame, it's a pretty silver one but just super annoyed now. Grab my stuff, grab my otter, jump on the wyvern and put the other on follow. Get back to base with 2 minutes to spare for my otter being born. I'll wait until tomorrow to get the unicorn foal.

oh man, that's terrible. Better torture Niall for all that! If it's not obvious, I've quit playing for now. Keep me up to date! Man... I wish I had a breeding pair of unicorns.

Halloween! And a new event. I'm going to have a few days killing lots of normal coloured dinos and collecting fun coloured ones. I also managed to get a skeletal bronto costume and a witch's hat saddle skin already.

Edit: I messed about thinking it would be easier to start a new map to get Halloween-coloured spawns so uploaded a few useful items, 2 dinos, some in cryopods too and my survivor. I also made a back up of my save file and good job too. I could download to The Island easily enough and got to the red obelisk, took my items out, went to download the 1 dino... game crashed. Fine, no worries, it saves regularly. Log back in, back to where I first spawned. Fine, just run there again, grab the items and maybe not worry about the 2 dinos yet. Nope, got there, none of my items were there. I just gave up and put the old save file back in but it still had a save on The Island when I booted it back up. It has saved my level 86 survivor so she is now on both maps, I just have nothing on The Island. So I spent a little time this morning catching a couple of funky coloured pteranadons near the obelisk and making a tiny base.

I also saw the meteor showers that preceed the spawning of the Dodorex. I didn't go out hunting for him though, not with a level 11 pteranadon!

Not gaming much at the moment as Mum is over for 2 weeks (first time in 2 years!) but I did see this little video the other day:

We're getting another extra map next year with more new creatures! And it shows the 3 new dinos for Lost Island actually in game.

Yea, I haven't played Ark at all recently. I did finish AC:Odyssey finally... holy crap that game is long when you have all the expansions. I won't be playing Ark for a bit still, I think. Maybe in another month or two. At least everything will be where I left it when I do finally go back, though.

That video... they're adding artillery dinos? The people running on fire out of their base was a bit amusing. Also a wing suit dino, apparently... that's cool. Wing suits are awesome. And I guess a big mountable monkey that can throw grenades? I dunno... I'm not sure dinosaurs were really like this when they roamed the earth 2000 years ago.

Multiverse, enough said.

Well when we were kids dinos didn't have feathers, so what do we know?! Although yeah... I'm fairly sure the 'grenades' that were exploding were poop so I'm not sure that's exactly realistic right there. The flaming people were fun though.

Had a brief play today with the intention of doing the turkey trial, until I read how terrifying the turkeys can be!

I jumped on my Island file and tamed my first dimorphodon simply because it was near my base and looked pretty cool (halloween colours, black with acid green wings). I then read up on them, decided they sound great and tamed two more, another male and a female. I've bred them and gotten a male so will continue with some breeding. They're only low level but I will get an army and rule the island with them!

This evening I went back to my Crystal Isles map. I saw a 140 female rex but she got killed before I could tame her. I've spotted a 150 male rex that I'll go back for next time but there was a gorgeous red and black spino by my base when I went for supplies. She's only 25 wild but I tamed her up for the colours.

haha yes it has a little, but it's balanced with a renewed addiction to ultima online I didn't get round to breeding the unicorns yet... *wanders off nonchalantly*

I've realised Ark addiction goes in cycles because when the game is going well, it goes really well, but when it goes wrong, it is a disaster. Luckily I'm in the 'really well' phase right now.

A couple of days ago I tamed a 150 male rex and a 130 female rex. I had the day off work due to some medical tests so I was very sore and aching after being stabbed with needles multiple times and decided to gather at on of eggs. My female can gain stats from both my male rexs so I got 4 eggs from each pairing that are sitting in my fridge ready to hatch now. I also got 4 allosaurus eggs ready to hatch. I bred my unicorns and the baby got the best stats from each parent so that was super lucky. I found a wild female ovis right by the base and had 3 veggie cakes I'd gotten out of a halloween drop so now I'm searching for a male to go with her. And then I had the most beautiful red spino male spawn by the base and he was 135! So he's now in the collection; the low level red female will probably "disappear" And finally I got my industrial forge built. Damn that thing is huge. House needs rearranging now (and extending) for sure.
