Severance: Blade of Darkness
THE game that got me into PC gaming. The game that took me to walkthru-online. The game that stuck you lot with me. It is returning in October! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1710 ... _Darkness/or https://www.gog.com/news/coming_soon_blade_of_darknessI reinstalled my CD copy a few months back but it's a song and dance to get it to work on a modern PC so I'm all for getting another copy and hacking off some limbs in HD for nostalgia.

Ah yes, Severance. Wasn't there a dude here, dwarf or something who played it a lot. Swedish I think.

Re: Severance: Blade of Darkness
Oh damn yes, going to annoy me who that was now. I think I've only completed it once, I just remember getting the demo when we got our first PC and playing the first level as the knight. I did terribly but slicing off arms and heads was fun. Ashamed to say once I got the full game I had to find walkthru-online coz I just couldn't figure out where to go in most levels!

Ah yes, brings back a lot of memories. Remember it being very challenging, not just button mashing, but actually having to know the combos.
I also played it years after it's release, Satis, and it started in "turbo mode". Some google research helped me fix it and run it properly.
I think it was Dwarf indeed, or maybe some word added with it?

Re: Severance: Blade of Darkness
Was it CrazyDwarf?
I think that's why I struggled so much with it. My previous gaming background consisted of the the Spectrum (so basically using z and x to go left and right on Dizzy games) or the Amiga (always using a joystick). To suddenly jump into a PC game where you had to remember to press to block, and use directions to dodge, then hit timed combinations of random buttons on the keyboard... my poor mind and fingers!
I'd like to think I'll be better at it now.

Crazy seems like a good contender. On a side note: i did finish the game, something I can't say from most games.

I did too! A mark of a good game is if I bother to finish it haha. But only with the guide. As Tukoram I think, the barbarian. And a lot of saving.

Re: Severance: Blade of Darkness
I don't think I ever played this game. Sounds like that may have been fortunate. Though I remember very clearly buying the game guides for Sierra games like Space Quest and Police Quest, so I certainly understand getting stuck.

The demo is up on GoG and it's out in 2 days, on the 7th.
