Re: What are you playing now?
[quote="J"I realise that, also after killing Wall of Flesh and spawning Hallow it will spread much much faster. So i just turned it off. In Journeymode you have to option to disable spread of Crimson/Corruption/Hallow. Didn't want to spend hours digging shafts to protect my base, jungle and whatnot. Not very hardcore of me, i know, but at least my gaming experience remains fun. [/quote] Aaah, I didn't know that! Makes perfect sense yeah. I though the hallow was a cool mechanic but could also get extremely annoying (and ugly). Might be more fun when you have several people playing on the same map so you can divide defensive and maintenance tasks a bit. I remember we had little brick outposts on the far ends of our 'main base' on the old clankiller server to stop the spread. Those were the days. I'm now playing Unheard, a sort of 'auditory detective' game. Basically you are given a floor plan and can 'follow' people moving around on it and can listen in to their conversations. Then you're asked to solve a crime based on who they talk to, what they say, etc etc. And you got to label all the participants in the conversation correctly. It sounds fairly easy, and the first scenarios are, but you quickly move on to some pretty difficult situations. It's a nice and mellow challenge. I'm also playing Thief Gold (with the community fix for proper modern day resolutions, texture pack and quality of life upgrades) as part of my attempts to use the lockdown to play several classics I had never gotten around to. So far quite impressed with it!

Re: What are you playing now?
Tried to get back into Skyrim (SE) but after a few days and getting to level 30, i find it all too grindy. The journal particularly kills the game. It soon gets spammed with quests, many of which I don't want to do, but it somehow feels i'm obliged to.
I've always had ArmA 3 in my Steam library but never played it, so i'm downloading that now.
Still no update on Project Zomboid ffs. This build 41 has been going on fore-eveeeeeeer!

Re: What are you playing now?
I started playing Ark with Shiny and some friends. That's a pretty fun game once you get over the considerable learning curve. You pretty much also need to play it with people and have a private server... the public ones tend to be over-full and all the good building locations are taken. However, all of that aside, it's very engrossing. Hunting/taming dinosaurs, building , clearing dungeons (caves), breeding dinosaurs to create genetic lines with enhanced stats, cooking, crafting, farming... it's surprisingly intricate. And, despite its age, the graphics are pretty good as well.

Re: What are you playing now?
My youngest one asked for a game he had been watching a lot of youtube videos about. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout if you know it, it's going pretty hard on Steam. Can't say no to a kid that just had surgery, so basically they're both playing this game on my computer now. And i get a turn with them now and then. It must have been ages as well since i played full price for a game on Steam.

Re: What are you playing now?
My youngest one got one win so far, i'm at 0. It's a combination of me sucking, lacking some luck and the game being not easy. There are still some issues, now i remember why i seldom buy games at launch. You play several rounds, some are team games, some are races to the finish. Every round a certain amount of people gets kicked out of the 'show' and after a couple of rounds, there's one who takes victory. And yeah, it's basically everywhere (reddit, twitch, youtube, ...)

Re: What are you playing now?
Huh.. yea, I haven't heard of it. I must be getting old. Baldur's Gate 3 is in early release on September 30, though. Some pics from Ark, since that's where I'm spending all my time.

Re: What are you playing now?
I'm gonna guess that your base is located on some sort of peninsula? If not, why is the gate separate from the main building? Or maybe there are multiple gates or walls blocking access from the other sides. What does the otter do except for being cute? J, nice to hear you've gotten to that stage in life when your children are outperforming you in certain tasks. I know, I know, they have a lot more time to practice than you. But still. I'm playing Thief 3 which is fine, but not as good as 1 and 2. Also Ultima Underworld (using a tool that ports it into Unity) and some light coop games. On the one hand I'm really excited about BG3 already coming to early access in September, on the other I'm definitely not going to play it yet. I'm too old to playtest games for free. And I prefer going blind into a finished game than having played parts of it for ages. I might, however, buy myself an copy if the preorder discount is decent and if it looks good. It's not like I'm spending my money on anything else right now!

Re: What are you playing now?
Ah, yea, that gate you see in the background fences off a large portion (along with some other gate) where Shiny and the other people's bases are. I built my base later and outside the gate. It hasn't caused me many issues yet... occasionally a Diplodocus will come by and I'll kill it because it's annoying. As for the Otter... you can wear it around your neck (along with some other small dinosaurs) and throw it at stuff to attack it, but mostly it's useless and just cute.

Re: What are you playing now?
Wait, did you genetically engineer this squirrel/cat monstrosity or is this an ancient and huge ancestor of both species? Are there any enemies that are actually dangerous to you if you can kill a Diplodocus with relative ease? If memory serves they were too big to be targeted by even the biggest carnivores, by and large. So yeah.
