Re: Diablo 3
Yeah all pretty much true lol. I didn't have the CE turn up yesterday so I avoided the midnight rush (experienced it enough with WoW thanks, not worth the hassle) and got on fine today mid-afternoon... got kicked off around 8pm and it took me 2 hours to get back in. I resorted to playing Minecraft and attempting login every 5-10 minutes til it worked. Once in the game it works fine, it's just getting in that's the hassle.

This will probably top the lists of every "disappointment/flop of 2012" lists.

Re: Diablo 3
Yea, that's pretty inexcusable. I mean... they knew how many copies were sold. Not having an infrastructure capable of supporting them all is pretty shoddy.

Re: Diablo 3
It probably will for the next week, the game itself is still solid Diablo so it will do well overall. Blizz know this, that's the trouble.

Re: Diablo 3
Yeah I saw that. It's gonna last me ok, so far I've played for about... 10 hours maybe? Maybe a little less and I've just finished Act 1 (admittedly 2 hours of that was repeating what I'd already done in Act 1 because my achievements bugged out the first day). My friend finished Act IV last night but he literally has played it almost non-stop (he's one of these hardcore WoW raider types so he just does things like this).

Re: Diablo 3
The beaten in 7 hours thing seems pretty relative from everything I've heard. If you just play at a normal rate and actually spend time reading stuff and min-maxing it's probably gonna be a lot longer (as Pev's comment seems to indicate). Hell, you could beat Morrowind in 8 minutes if you really wanted to.

Re: Diablo 3
RPS does a not-so-positive piece on the hollow feel of the SP and the always-on DRM messing with the game's jive. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/05 ... llow-game/I feel like the big names (Blizzard, Bioware) may have reached their max level caps and now only really seem to know how to polish what they've been doing for years. Hope seems to be with the upstarts, like CD Projekt et al, to make games with an actual novel angle or design.

Re: Diablo 3
Yea, this game isn't on my purchase list. I mean, Diablo 2 was fun for awhile, but I wasn't totally addicted like a lot of people. this seems to be basically the same thing, but with some smoothing of edges and better graphics.
I don't begrudge others their time, though. If this is your cup of tea, by all means, I wish you dozens of hours of looting enjoyment.

Re: Diablo 3
I dunno, been playing this game for a while now and when I am at work I get the itch to come home and play it, so it must be doing something well!
I guess it just has the right blend of nostalgia and fresh blend to it.
I will post more when I have the shot at really getting my teeth sunk in to it!

Re: Diablo 3
Enjoy the video. It's about people getting robbed inside the game in real time. No hax my ass Blizzard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iQoOMJ9 ... e=youtu.be

Re: Diablo 3
It's a disgrace is what it is.
- Blizzard collects a bazillion preorders - Tells gamers that even offline (single-player) games will need to authenticate with battle.net beforehand, promises the sky - Game launches, rampant login issues for a few days - Two weeks down the road, stories of hacked accounts pop up. First dismissed (by fanboys mostly) as obviously caused by hacked players' carelessness. - Quickly becomes clear that hackers are actually hacking accounts through battle.net procedures - News today, Blizzard delays launch of their (real money) auction house because of massive problems with auction house so far (duping, gold disappearing etc)
Just wow. At this point I wouldn't even play it for free. Talk about a disregard for customers.
