Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
No i'm busy with school stuff, i cant afford an MMO timewise at the moment. I still have one "heavy duty" paper to submit, exams and tests to do, how the hell is time suddenly in short supply.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Mm, yeah probably good priorities then...I wish I had something to prioritise on. Not sure if I actually want to play in the beta tbh, on second thought. Would kinda spoil the early game when it gets here, and early game is always the best part.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
A little birdie told me Satis & Shiny were installing The Old Republic yesterday evening. I'm sure the download was in 5 minutes later. You tried it yet guys?

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Anything and everything having to do with any beta test stuff is under a nondisclosure agreement. So... I can neither confirm nor deny whether any such thing has taken place, nor, if it had, can I say anything about what came of it. Sorry.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Welp, NDA was lifted, so now I can talk about it. Unfortunately, the test didn't start until Saturday and Shiny and I were in Vail snowboarding. We didn't get back until Monday and got to play for maybe 30 minutes.
My experience was virtually bug free. We decided to go Sith.. she chose a protector (force user that's more power and less damage oriented) and I went with a bounty hunter. The idea was to play together, of course, but we ended up on different starting planets due to our chosen professions. Oops. I can't speak for her game, but with me, I'm an up-and-coming bounty hunter on Nal Hutta (home of the Hutts) attempting to finagle my way into "The Great Hunt" for fame and fortune.
Like I mentioned, only about 30 minutes of gameplay, which isn't much. I created my character using a decent amount of customization... you can choose skin tone, face out of maybe 20 options, body shape out of maybe 8 options, hair, hair color, etc etc. You can also choose your race (I chose cybernetic human) and some other stuff. Then you get dropped into some cut scenes that start you on your first quest. All dialog is spoken and any time you speak to pick up or turn in a quest, it drops to in-game cut scenes.
So far I'm in what I presume is the noob area... it's pretty limited thus far, but it really should be when you're a noob. I hit level 2... I believe once you hit 10 you leave the noob zone. Anyway, I'll report more as I actually do more.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Cool, keep us updated. From what I've read so far the comments are that it's very standard in its fighting mechanics (wow style, cooldowns etc) but plays like a singleplayer RPG story-wise. Very interested. Especially in what happens when/if you do group convos.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Well... we were weekend beta testers, and that weekend we were in Vail. We got to play about an hour on Monday, and now we're out again. Goddamnit. It's hard to say much about it. I had virtually no bugs, shiny had a bugfest. I completed like 2 missions (if that), and they were noob missions, so I dunno. I hope we get selected for some more beta play.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
lol, there won't be a discount until shiny and I are bored of this game. Anyway, we're playing since yesterday. Definitely enjoying it. We both created Galactic Republic smugglers and are playing through Ord Mantell (the noob world for this class). Just finished the main quest and about to leave for Coruscant. I also created a Jedi Knight playing on the Jedi world. That's for when shiny isn't home to play her smuggler with me. Definitely enjoying things so far, though I'm curious to try some dark-side classes too.
