Clothing Kinect Hack
Another Kinect hack, but this one allows you to try on virtual clothes. The models are 3d, so you can move around and they fold and contort appropriately. This is the future of online clothes shopping, though probably in a more polished format. http://hackaday.com/2011/07/07/play-dre ... th-kinect/There's a video on Vimeo http://vimeo.com/25933286It's still rough, but works.

Re: Clothing Kinect Hack
Yeah give it some development time and it could be very useful. On a side note to this, a long long time ago (Before the kincet release) it show this as one of the Kinects features. Obviously, as far as M$ are concerned - it never came to be realised. But I guess it was only a matter of time...

The dude showcasing the thing is totally lame. That's what you get when you let a programmer out of his cage.

Re: Clothing Kinect Hack
haha, yea, they totally should've found a hot chick and paid her a bit of money to do it. Marketing, ya bastards! I may be a programmer, but at least I know that much.

Re: Clothing Kinect Hack
I very much doubt it's the future of online clothes shopping.
You cant feel the quality, texture and comfort of the clothing. You cant even tell if it REALLY fits. You can't see how you look in different (natural) lighting. Besides, it wont fulfill the ladies love of the shopping experience.
As a bloke, i wouldn't use it simply because I can't see how it truly fits. But then, I do kinda hate ill-fitting clothes, even T-Shirts.

Re: Clothing Kinect Hack
Well, a sufficiently advanced kinect-like apparatus would be able to measure your body as you stand there so you could actually have clothes custom-fit to your body. Build in a sufficiently intelligent algorithm and you could probably do it without even getting naked. The lighting could also be simulated. As for the tactile thing? Yea, we're not there yet, but even that's coming.
