Re: MoW: Assault Squad
I did, still needed two shots. Maybe I didn't hit the head or maybe there's a damage falloff for distance?

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
Me and Derf took on the yanks yesterday as the jerries, together with 2-3 other guys I didn't know. We lost (well we actually didn't win and quit) thanks to most of our teammates being dumb or lame. One dropped after 20 mins, and another didn't respond to any team chat questions, didn't distribute units correctly and even managed to fuck up basic tactical orders. Like, I say I go left at the start and 5 minutes later I see he's on the left flank with all his men too, while the enemy is punching through our centre. Retard. Still had some fun though...when it was clear we were gonna lose, I ordered the ridiculously expensive veteran Tiger tank and went on a desperate rampage. I fragged a couple of US tanks, including one charge straight throught a building on top of one, effectivey pulling a surprise frontal attack. Derf's idea. I think we should get a 3rd or 4th man for more awesomeness. Peltz or Satis, the motherland calls you!

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
Haha yeah. Rinox and I are good with infantry, Rinox more with attacking and me more with AT guns. We're in need of a good tanker though. Peltz man, you gotta fill in

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
Hehe. How's the effect of lag on this game? I don't think I ever played the original with you guys. I'd hate to get it and it be useless across the pond.

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
Good question. In my experience the lag is mostly down to the CPU of the host. We found this out yesterday while playing a mission. Ok, the game performance itself probably isn't too optimised (patches, etc) but I have a Core2Duo E8500 3.16GHz and it seemed to struggle hosting a mission for Rinox and some guy in Moscow. The problem I think is that it needs to process and transmit all the AI actions of the enemy opponent. So when there's a "banzai" or counter attack, last night it seemed to struggle badly. I didn't notice it before, so maybe it was a map issue or my PC being temporarily gay.
On the other hand i've played a couple of missions with folks hosting from the US somewhere and the mission was perfectly playable.

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
Let's say that if we see a massive sale (around the 10 dollar mark) we'll throw you a line on here. I didn't get it for much more than that so it shouldn't be impossible. You can then still see what you want to do. And Peltz needs to get his ass out of the service. Can't you say you're gay or something? Dishounourful discharge ftw! Yesterday proved once more how hard I suck at commanding tanks. I can take them out ok, I can even repair and capture them, but 20 seconds after rolling them back into play I get sniped by some AT gun I didn't even see. Epic moment of that game for me: I was at centre, holding the main road. I had some MG's, an AT and some infantry in buildings. Enemy tanks rolls in, snipes the AT and proceeds to roll down the wide road and shelling my MG's and mortar to shit. I'm getting pounded up the ass with no AT or armor, troops getting raped and Derf and the other guy were too busy on their flanks to assist quick enough. Tank is now in the middle of the road , 10-15 metres from the AT gun he shelled (two dead guys lying near it). But...the AT gun isn't BROKEN, just damaged (left wheel). I spot a single infantry guy in a nearby building, sprint towards the AT gun, swivel it around 30° to face the tank and SHELL that bastard from point fucking blank*. Epic guy deserved a medal. Saved the entire centre from being torn open. *You can still operate an AT gun with one guy, it just gets a lot slower clearly. But since it was already loaded by the dead guys with an AP shell, all the guy had to do was swivel the gun and fire it. They can't, however, MOVE an AT gun alone.

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
Sounds cool. If lag really isn't an issue, i could probably serve fairly well... I have a quad core and 18GB of RAM, after all.

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
Hey Derfmeister, I made an entry into the MoW: AS competition on RPS...I mentioned a friend of ours being in the service and that we needed a tank commander (Peltz), so we want to give the game to him. Can you make another entry (with a different reason obviously)? With a bit of luck we'll get one of the copies, with a shitload of luck two! So we can give one to both Peltz and Satis. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/04 ... ult-squad/Satis can send one in too if he feels like it. The more the merrier! (just need to send in a reason why you feel you should get a copy/steam key)

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
Hey RPS,
I would like a copy of MoW:AS for my gamer friend Peltz in Estonia. He is currently living in army barracks since he’s a conscript in the Estonian army. The poor chap is complaining that he has no decent games to play on his laptop on weekends and I believe this could be his ticket to mental salvation.
Rinox (my other MoW:AS comrade) have been playing co-op heavily, very much like we used to with the original MoW. However, we are in need of a decent tanker. Rinox and I are only honestly good with infantry, but Peltz used to be our dedicated tank specialist. We’re missing this element from our game. I’m trying to fill in where possible, but every T34 loss brings a tear to my eye and I can’t bear it. I get the feeling some virtual commissar is looking down on me in disgust, aiming a Tokarev pistol to my head. Also, our inadequate armoured support is actually costing the lives of many tiny pixelated soldiers. When you consider if you should gift us a copy, don’t do it for us, or even Peltz (who’s no doubt freezing his ass off, riding in a supply truck somewhere).
Do it for the men.
Thanks,
Derf.

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
Haha, jeez you put a lot more effort into it than me. That's truly amazing (love the Tokarev line) And my message had slightly different accents too, but overall the jist is the same Me and a friend have been playing the hell out of MoW: AS in MP, but a third friend who we played the original MoW with is now doing army service and keeps putting off buying the game because he won't have a lot of time to play... I'm great with infantry (AT infantry ahoy!) and my friend is a meticulous and effective defender. But we need someone who knows how to handle tanks, and for that we'd like our old buddy to join us. So, in short: WE NEED THE EXTRA COPY BECAUSE WE NEED A TANK COMMANDER!! And it'd make a nice gift to our friend in the service, too. Peace brah!

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
I am deeply touched, however i'll be in the darn woods until the end of May. 17 days in row during May and weekly before that.

Re: MoW: Assault Squad
I'll think about you as you're in the woods. At least it's May. It could've been January or something totally hellish. I don't imagine May will be too sweltering or freezing, right? I have no idea what the seasons are like in North Korea or Croatia or wherever you are.
