In-Game Video Capture
I think .swf seems to be the best overall file format for sharing ingame videos.
It seems sharper than all others, sometimes pixelly and I think the sound isn't the best, but the filesize is the smallest.
I tried attaching a 5.7 MB file, but the upload limit is 5MB.
Satis can you bump this up to 6MB?

Re: In-Game Video Capture
Oh and I got 30 seconds from that file, which is pretty good. FYI: I'm using fraps to capture 30 second raw clips which start off as huge 300 MB files. Then i convert them using QMC (Quick Media Converter) which is freeware (and hopefully virus-free).

Or I could use youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRhTPjZcHhgtest... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CRhTPjZcHhg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CRhTPjZcHhg&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Re: In-Game Video Capture
no html tags allowed in posts, sorry.
Flash video is a horrible idea. Flash isn't meant for streaming video, it's meant for interactive web applications. It also requires a plugin, and it's buggy as shit. My opinion: use a video file format for videos. That's all flash does, but it then encapsulates that into a flash format.
If your video is too big, you're not using the encoder properly. Try wmv9, or try using h.264 in an avi, mkv or mov container. I guarantee that, once you figure out your encoder, you'll get higher quality for smaller file sizes.

Re: In-Game Video Capture
btw, I bumped attachment size to 10MB. I don't expect to bump it any higher, though, so please make due.

Re: In-Game Video Capture
sounds too complicated.
I'll stick to .swf + youtube. Fraps only lets me grab 30 seconds at a time, which works out around 5MB which is manageable.

Re: In-Game Video Capture
using the Microsoft wmv encoder is really simple. I can throw together a quick how-to with screenshots in probably 15 minutes, if anyone really cares.
