Re: Mac Gaming?
One of the things that struck me the most about the Valve opening into Mac market thing is that it'll allow Mac players to play on the same servers as PC players (unlike with the console platforms). I know it isn't exactly a technical miracle, but given the existing rift between mac and pc (users) that's pretty nifty.

Re: Mac Gaming?
true.... at a packet level, I bet the difference between the PC, MacOS and console versions of a game are trivial to nonexistant. It would be stupid to have them be different, it would just add complexity for no gain. I think the main reason to separate the gamers is due to platform advantages... anyone on a PC will dominate a console gamer, since you have (the potential for) better hardware and equal or better input devices.
On the other hand, online pc gaming is already a sewer. Imagine opening it up to the console world. It'd be like pouring nuclear waste and rancid whale crap into the sewer.

Re: Mac Gaming?
As I said in my previous post, I know it's not a technical masterpiece to pull it off. But it is a rare thing in general, to have mac and pc players compete in the same games.

Re: Mac Gaming?
only because by the time a game gets ported to the Mac, everyone on PC has already beaten it and moved on.

Re: Mac Gaming?
I was gonna say something about PC players having just too much skill for Mac players, but that works too.
