Picked up C&C3: Tiberium Wars for cheap on Friday, and played it on and off through the weekend. I could have finished it yesterday but I felt sick and a little tired, so i'll keep that for tonight. But I really need to extend game time over 2 days next time.
It's a fun game though, but mostly because it's C&C. Kane! Tiberium! etc. My only gripe with the game is the changing level in difficulty. The first 3/4 of the game is ridiculously easy, like 10 minutes per mission easy. But then the aliens arrive and it's OMGWTFBBQ. At that point the game becomes not so much an RTS but a timed building management game where you try to keep your defense up while hurrying production of either a superweapon or two or a shitload of bomber planes for a suicide run on your targets. I've won a few victories in straight-up land combat against the bastards but in general they're insane and only get worse as they grow.
I'm a better build manager than a strategist so I don't mind TOO much, but still. Difficulty spikes ftl.
P.S. As always, GDI is easier (mammoth rush/bomber planes) but Nod is way more fun (flamethrowers, mech walkers, stealth units - guerrila style).

Btw - there's a GDI unit called the Juggernaut. One of his 'taglines' when you select him is "I'm the juggernaut!" in the exact same tone as the infamous I'm the Juggernaut, BITCH internet parody. Funny shit. Too bad they couldn't work the bitch in there too.

I played quite a bit of C&C3 when it came out. The Scrin are indeed far too tough compared to the NOD (in a sense logical, since they came from outer space and NOD tech has always been a rip-off of found Scrin tech, but not good for gameplay).
By the way, there was a mod in development to recreate the original C&C with the C&C3 engine. I don't know if it ever finished, but that might be worth checking out when you're bored wit the main game.
EDIT: the link. I looked around for a bit, and despite a lack of updates in the last months the devs do appear to still be active, although they're still very far from a release.

Cool I actually replayed the first C&C a year or two ago, and it was pretty funny to see how simple it was (not in terms of tactics -the last missions were pretty hard- but in management and units) but most importantly how SLOOOOOW the game is. Harvesters, mammoths and most tanks except the Nod light tank are excruciatingly slow.
They fixed that in the first Red Alert.
Arathorn, did you play Kane's Wrath? Is it any good?

I finished the Scrin campaign right before hopping the plane, and it was fun. Only 4 missions, though, but they were relatively challenging and interesting.
I can't wait to find Kane's Wrath on a budget somewhere now.

I picked up FEAR 2 on budget at the electronics store today...installing as we speak. Also downloading a humungous patch. Taking ages.

If I'm not mistaken, that game got reviewed as being pretty crap. Good luck with that.
