Don't feel bad, I haven't played anymore either...partially because I'm kinda busy (outside work, that is. I've got plenty of time at work to write this shit
), and partially because the little time I do have still tends to get absorbed by Silent Hunter III's blazing submarine awesomeness.
I just finished a crazy patrol...I ran into a large convoy near Gibraltar and snuck up on it past the destroyer escorts...fired all 4 of my front torpedo tubes, 2 torpedos each aimed for 2 ships (a tanker and a cargo ship). One sank immediately, the other stayed afloat (bastard!).
Of course, the entire damn convoy starts pinging me, and destroyers litter the area with depth charges. I crash dive to a 100m and navigate under the bulk of the cargo ships in order to make it hard for destroyers to make efficient depth charge runs over my position.
I follow the convoy that way until my 4 tubes are reloaded (takes a looooong time) and think about finishing the crippled cargo ship or just trying to get away...I opt for the former.
Blow ballast, appear between the ships at near point blank range and fire two torpedos on the already burning cargo and the other two at a Liberty Cargo (armed cargo ship)...4 hits, 2 ships down.
Crash dive again, but this time I can't hide in between the ships anymore...they start scattering, my oxygen supplies aren't endless and having dispensed all my front torpedoes I'm virtually defenseless (deck gun won't do me much good between an entire convoy - they'd frag me in minutes if I surfaced). So...I try to slip away at great depth, but with so many ships pinging my position is easily detected. I spent almost an hour getting away and shaking off those damn destroyers who followed me as far as 10 kms from the convoy. Too bad there weren't other U-boats around to finish the job right there and then.
Suffered some minor impacts (mostly deck damage) from the depth charges but in the end managed to get away, with a host of medals and a promotion as a result.
Erh....SORRY. I just kinda got carried away.
You know what puts me off the most about Morrowind right now Gfree? The NPC's who don't seem to "live". And the lack of voice acting. But I'm just spoiled, I used to love that game (and Daggerfall before that which had no voices at all
).
