Routers + Cable
I have a friend who I'm gunna set up a network for his PC and Xbox.
He connects using a cable line instead of through a phone line. Will I need a special router? Or can I get an adapter?
reason is I'm gunna sell him my old router if it will work, but I'm not gunna try if it wont work.

By phone line I am assuming you mean DSL connection. If the router has a CAT5 connection for its WAN and you had DSL and your friend's cable has a modem that has a CAT5 connection then yes, it will work.

yea, the xbox has an ethernet jack. That'll work fine. If you have two ethernet ports on the router it should be simple to set up.

I think Mole means the cable that looks like coax. Dont know if it is coax, or something similar.

I said that. but it's his dad's PC and his dad doesn't want to loose his stuff.
Now I've seen the crap they have in that house (For instance, Old Age Pensioner pornagraphy laying around on the kitchen table) and I didn't really feel comfortable going through that PC to try and fix it, so adaware/spybot was as far as I was going with that. Gave up in the end. fuck him.

heh....when it gets to that level, the only way to be sure you got it all was to wipe the whole hard drive. I used to fix peoples' pcs because of crap like that and just got tired of it. I'll still fix it, but my fix is to format everything and reinstall windows. If they don't want that, they can pay some shop to fuck it up.
