Cannot change computer workgroup
I had to reformat and install xp on one of my machines. I am the only administrator on the machine, but it won't let me change the computer's work group. It is grayed out. Suggestions?

I only know that its "greyed out" on limited accounts. Try setting up a new home or small office netwrok?

Try logging into safe mode. Sometimes when you get the windows log in screen it might only show 1 account but when you log into safe mode youll see 2 (1 being administrator). Try it from there.

ah, good call. My guess would be some fucked up group policy. I wouldn't be surprised if it was home edition doing that though. And I concur, what's with the avatar?

just to cover all bases....
you are right-clicking my computer
choosing properties
going to the computer name tab
clicking the 'change' button
and putting (or trying to put) the radio button next to workgroup
right?

Satis, that is what I was trying to do, but as derf said, it was grayed out. Using the network wizard enabled the button.
