Google
What do you think about them? What do you think about gmail? Personally I have 2 gmail accounts just to have them. It’s so much faster than hotmail.

So what do you think? Is Google really creepy? Or is this anti-google stuff coming from insiders at Microsoft or Yahoo?

I don't think it's bad. Nobody forces you to use Google, if it turns out to be bad, use Yahoo for searching the web, Copernic for searching your pc etc.
It isn't like Windows which you need to use if you want to use all of your programs.

Google is starting to get really really big and ubiquitous. They have so many services I find nearly indispensable...I have a gmail account of course, I use it almost exclusively to search the internet (only alternate one I use is astalavista... heheh). I use the hell out of google maps. I read google news. I use the personalized google launch page and have quick links to slashdot wired, and my gmail account.
But anyway, I honestly don't see them being a big problem. I don't see a problem with their privacy policy. I've never had google do anything in the least big invasive. They're extremely configurable. And they seem to really give a shit what the end user wants.
So, while I think googlewatch and such is a great idea in case anyone over there ends up with god syndrome (or cash syndrome), I think google is actually an alright corporation. Which is really saying alot, since I believe a great chunk of today's problems are because of large corporations.
