Input appreciated
So, anyway: I've downloaded Everest Home Edition a while ago. It's pretty awesome, and very neat to use. Extensive and everything. I recommend trying it.
http://www.lavalys.com/products/overvie ... =1&lang=en
So, i'm browsing my pc info, and when I look into my chipset info and settings, the program notifies me of two things:
->AGP has been deactivated. This might cause performance problems.
->the current AGP speed (x4) is lower than the max supported speed (x8)
this migth cause performance problems.
Questions:
1) What is AGP?
2) What's with the deactivated/running at lower speed than possible thing?
3) In case the answer to 2) doesn't exclude this already: could I gain in performance by tweaking this shit?
I know, I can find this on the net. But I'm just looking for the info I need, ie performance gain without blowing up my rig. All I know is that AGP is something to do with my mobo. And chipset, apparently.
Thanks for any input...i'm going to resume getting giddy over my pc specs in everest

Dunno if this helps, i'm browsing the FAQ of that thing and my eye sees this:
17. On the Motherboard / Chipset page, the AGP rate is lower than the maximum supported, or even the AGP seems to be completely disabled. How to fix this?
It can be because motherboard chipset drivers have not yet been installed, or you the AGP video card in the system is incapable of AGP texturing (e.g. 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee or Voodoo3). Or it's simply a PCI video card. To solve the driver problem, it is recommended to first install the motherboard chipset driver, and after that to install the driver for the video card.
(list of drivers)
blah

mmm, thanks for that J. It's probably the chipset drivers then, because my 9600pro isn't a PCI card and does support AGP. I'm still gonna wait for Satis or such to come along and spill his guts about this, no offense.
In the meanwhile I'll locate those chipset drivers

To me it looks like it means your motherboard supports AGP 8x but your video card is running only at 4x. Probably a setting in your bios doesnt have it set to 8 or drivers like J said. Im leaning more toward bios.

Heres what you do rinox you lazy bastard.
You go to www.ati.com
click on products
click on gamer
scroll down
Radeon® 9600 PRO
The page it takes you too will tell you what AGP speed you video card is.
Now for the motherboard.
www.asus.com
click on your region
click on products
click on motherboards
click on A7N8X-X
And somewhere on that page it tell you what speed AGP your motherboard is.
Now once you find out what speeds your motherboard and video card AGP are come back and tell us what you found out.
