Widescreen TV is better because your eyes are like this 0----0 and the screen is like [-------]. Its easier for your eyes compare to watching square TV [--].
Secondly, it onlt squashes the images of non-widescreen transmissions. Like some TV stuff. I think it has to do with how you set up your TV. If you set it up properly, all the screen should be filled and there should be no stretching. even if the screen is completely full, you are still wasting space.

Because with widescreen you see more of the shot. When a movie is made for the big screen it made in a widescreen format. When it goes to DVD or VHS they have to crop the ends of the movie out to make it fit your tv so you dont see all of the scene.

Yeah but if they filmed it differntly, and added the top and the bottom in, you'd see that that bitch in the picture is actually standing in the water.
