Google Desktop?
Seems like Google has made some usefull program again: is like Google search for your computer.
But is it usefull? I don't use search that much, but Windows search is damn slow, and this program seems to promise a much faster search. On the other hand... I guess this program has to run 24/7 to work, so is the extra CPU and memory load acceptable?

Don't know anything about it, but i agree strongly on the windows search being damn slow. An alternative is welcome, although i can't imagine people having to search that often for things on their PC.

according to the FAQ, it only indexes your machine while the machine is idle, so it shouldn't affect anything while you're using it. There has to be something running in the background there to detect idling, so there must be some level of CPU/memory drain. It may be negligible, of course.
this is the first I've ever heard of this, so no real information. Kinda neat. If someone wants to give it a whirl, I'd be interested to hear the results.
