yes it's a terible waste. But I don't have the money to get the rest of the stuff to install it.

And I'm guessing it wont fit any of the new 64 bit slots, so that sucks too. But hey, my MoBo is stuck inside my base unit right now, one of the screws wont unscrew or screw in. So It'll just be a whole new computer.

Hehe, k. Hope you didn't spend too much cash on it then.

I got the new power supply, and replaced it. Played an hour of CoD:UO, then surfed around a bit, and no sudden shutdowns yet. :)

Less fun is that the new box won't fit the screw holes (is that the right word? it sounds very...dubious :P ), so I'll have to make a few holes myself. For now it's just resting loose on the 2 ledges in there. Works just fine, but as you can imagine i'd like it to be fixed somewhat more solidly.

yea, this one time, I couldn't fit the screw holes either. So I tried to make me own screw hole. Needless to say, the chick got pissed and left. :(

on the screws for the mobo....is it screwed into a standoff, or the case itself? If it's a standoff, just unscrew the whole standoff, get it some place you can easy screw with it, and use pliers and whatnot.

If it's right into the case...well...you're screwed. If you ever wanna replace that mobo, I'd suggest just getting another case. :P

Oh...and ox. Are you sure you're doing it right? Power supplies are pretty standard on how they're screwed. (LOL!) ermmm... I've isntalled a fair number, and they're always had identicaly screw placement. You sure it's not upside down or anything?

I'm screwed because it's right in to the case, but I intend to get a new one anyway, I just gotta save me some moolah.

Hehe...I actually double-checked if i wasn't holding it upside down, cos that idd sounds like something I would fail to see. Thing is, the positions and relative distance between the 4 holes is the same as on the old power supply box, but the box itself is slighly smaller. Hope that makes sense. But in any case, that makes that i'll have to make new holes. It's prolly the case being crap, I purposely chose the cheapest of cheap, which is now coming back to haunt me in terms of power supply problems I guess. :) On the brigh side: the bew power supply looks cooler and is ultra-quiet. yay!

lol. You get what you pay for, nowadays. the cheap cases suck, the cheap motherboards suck, the cheap printers suck, etc etc etc. Cd-roms don't matter too much (they all suck nowadays) and of course floppy drives are a non-issue. Even keyboards that are worth a crap cost money. :/ Not that I care about key pressure, but it's nice to have the right amount of resistance on the keys...and they should click, not squish. heh

I love a clicky keyboard, makes for fast typing. Mine's not too bad, but it's getting worn now (problem with being someone who types quite a bit) where as about 2 years ago, before I was heavy on the internet, my keyboards would last ages. But the main thing that sucks is my letters are wearing off, so if I mess up and have to hit 'l' i end up hitting ; etc. But that's usually only if i have to look at the board. which aint that often. (though stupidly more often that before the wearing occured)

My left-ctrl is crappy, so I have to perform hand-miracles and make command with the right one. :/ Really annoying when doing some heavy-duty copy-pasting stuff, like short combinations of numbers and passwords. Bleh.
