Yeah I use Firefox mainly, good browser, the only problem is that it isn't great "out of the box", you have to install a load of plugins and I'm afraid that will set off some newbie users (and the Mozilla Foundation'll need those if they want to seriously challenge MS).
As an alternative I use with IE, it has tabbed browser windows and a pop-up/ad blocker too.

I user firefox. It definetely requires some tweakage and some plugins to be really badass. The poor support of javascript is also a problem. In fact, the javascript support (or lack thereof) is the only reason I still use IE.
btw, I was checking my webstats lately....
In January, 91% of the users of Clankiller.com were using IE
So far this month, the number has dropped to about 75%. Ditto for last month, so it's not an anomoly.
Across the same period, the users of 'Mozilla' have grown from about 1% to about 15%.
IE is doomed. Especially with the next major version not destined to ship until 2005 at the earliest (and only with a new O/S, to boot). I predict IE will lose market dominance by then.

Well i guess that's why IE got a little revamp with the new service pack, i still use it, but that's because well... it works. I don't really need anything else, it's now got a popup blocker and active X detection (to stop them damned install things) so it's not to bad.

ignorant, wierd....uneducated. Whatever. Seriously, you guys should try something other than IE. Try opera, or firefox. The incredible speed of page loads alone will make you a convert. The addition of mouse gestures (something I scoffed at, then fell in love with), the lack of popups, tabbed browsing, and the disappearance of most adware/spyware/malware is just icing on the cake.
Seriously. Try it for about 2 weeks without using IE. That'll give you enough time to get used to the new interface. You'll never go back.

lol.
what satis says is true, with IE, using both adaware and spybot i'd be clearing off quite a bit of crap every week, these days it practically a thing of the past.
also with the right plugins you get a built in download manager, addblocking, google searchbar, etc.

Ok using firefox. One thing is for sure, its not faster than IE. Pic's take a longer time to load.
Cool thing I like is the tabed windows. So far other than that, same shit different browser.
Ill keep using it though just to test.

i found this out elsewhere so i'm not taking credit. but type this into your address bar:
about:config
Hit enter, now you get a page with a bunch of settings from firefox.
Search for following and change accordingly:
quote:
- network.http.max-connections /change value to "64"
- network.http.max-connections-per-server /change value into "21"
- network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server /change value into "8"
- network.http.pipelining /change to True, this will give faster download speeds
- network.http.pipelining.maxrequests /change to 100
- network.http.proxy.pipelining / change to true *not sure if this makes a difference to people NOT using proxies....
this give a bit of a speed up imo.
