Ok...I need any help I can get. I used to use firefox as my standard brower at work until IT overhauled my pc and now it can't connect to the net anymore and I'm stuck with crappy IE 6 (IT doesn't support the later versions of IE).
Needless to say i have dire need of a better browers than IE 6.
When installing firefox it won't automatically set a proxy, and when I start it up it gives me a "dear user, you must tweak the proxy settings before surfing the web" message. And tells me to contact IT, which doesn't seem very smart.
So...since i can install firefox but it just won't connect to the internet I figure it must use a port or proxy or whatever that has been blocked by IT. Logic dictates that if I can import the settings of IE for these features into firefox (which has a very straightforward menu for that) it should be able to get online. Or is my bronze and stone-age level IT thinking too simple?
Any help would be appreciated, because it's pretty retarded that IT only supports IE6 when firefox is clearly so much faster and safer. Two days on IE6 gave me more problems with unwanted effects (popups and shit) than Firefox ever did. Lame.
