This applies to notebooks that have built-in Intel 4965AGN modem. Issue: While trying to connect to a wireless network, the modem responds with limited or no connectivity. This is a problem with the driver. Read more . Cause: Driver. Solution: It just happens that i had the same problem and i followed to the instructions in the above article and it helped. Vista wouldnt let it automatically update the driver but manually telling the modem to update the driver and search for it in the folder where the dell unpacker copied it worked fine. Direct link to driver: ftp://ftp.dell.com/network/R164259.EXE I hope this helps if you find yourself facing a similiar problem. Eventhough its a dell driver it worked on my alienware. |

This problem might not even manifest itself untill you connect to a network that uses repeater(s). I only encountered this problem at university, where there are 5 or 6 repeaters. |

Strange. My laptop is a Dell but I haven't experienced that issue yet. I don't know for a fact that it's the same wifi modem, though. Ah well, thanks for posting. |
