When trying to install Office XP you get:

My problem:

After following all the instructions brought up in above links the setup still returned the error 1622


My solution:

It turned out that the temp folder was on somekind of permanent Read-Only. I deleted the Temp folder and created a new one and voila, the setup ran fine.

Start-Run-%TEMP% and then go up one directory, and check if the Temp directory is read only.

oh, that's cool. I had some issue with that on both my and Shiny's computers... ended up just making a new temp folder on a different drive and pointing the environment variables to it. I didn't realize deleting and recreating it would work.

BTW, I think securom or something does that. Irritating ass DRM. I should get money every time I have to fix something that DRM screwed up.
