Post subject: | MS Access: create macro to enter new record |
Now I know this question is stupid. I know I've done this umpteen times before for my Dad's company. However, typing in "new record" to google turns up lots of "record macro" results. Anyway, Long story short, I'm making a database for the company I work for to allow us to log calls. All I want to do is make a nice big button that says "LOG CALL" so that even the moronic middle aged females I'm surrounded by can understand it. However, When I go to create A macro that simply creates a record, I can't find the flippin' command to do it! Does anyone know where it is? |

No clue. I could probably give you pointer if you are using Oracle Forms, but obviously you're not. Might be better to just use a book to write this stuff for such a simple task. |

That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid - people call in. someone writes it down. Book gets misplaced, taken away/whatever. If it's on a centralised DB then there's none of this bull. |

well, I hate access. I'd just build a web form using php/c# and write to a database (probably mysql or ms-sql). |

I hate access to. But I can't install PHP on these computers. I can't upload from these computers. I can't garuntee that any website will work on these computers. All I have is Access. And I guess I should be thankfull for that... I guess. |

If the book leaves the phone-area, then you are working with retards. Lay the smack down on them. I'm sorry, all my studies have told me that these little problems aren't solved by computerising them. A DB is really overkill. You need to switch it on, load it up, find, create, save just to find some notes of a phone conversation belonging to someone in a 10 man outfit. |

meh, I'm not quite on the boat with Derf. I think computerization would help... when you log it to a central db, you can do all kinds of fun stuff with the data. Like smack down the bish that never records any calls or keeps punting people. But I don't know the answer to your dilemma, sorry. |

Agreed Satis. Plus, Imagine that some dude calls up about a call that was placed months ago. Why page through a book when I can type in the date? |
