They asked me to post this over msn Mole was just surfing the internet perfectly ok, and I was on multiplayer Sacred. Out of the blue, the Internet just stops working; no pages will display, but Sacred is still connected to multiplayer, and when I log out of Sacred then back in, I have no problems. So I exited Sacred to test if the net was working for me, nope no such luck. Pages just sit there "loading" for ages before doing a Page cannot be displayed. So we attempt to go to the router page to see if the router needs rebooting... nope. Attempting to go to that page brings up an error dialog box saying "Search page cannot be found", and pressing ok causes IE to attempt to use the MSN search but, of course, the page cannot be found. Now at this point we're both still on MSN and Mole is talking to people on it no problem. So we both run ad-aware... the odd tracking cookies but nothing else, so we remove them. I run Zone Alarm antivirus... no virus detected. Mole runes Spybot and Hijack this... nothing. (Hijack this log of his comp is attached however) So Mole attempts to restart his computer... now he can't even sign into MSN even though I'm still logged in and talking to oxymoron here (I say !) He can still drop files onto my network drive but the Internet is totally fucked. Any idea guys? Hello! It was much as I suspected, I think the router over-heated and bottomed out. After switching everything off over night, here I am, online! Hopefully it won't happen again. Still, could you guys take a look at my Hijack this log please? |

Well turning the router off fixed it. I guessed it was an over heat, but it could have been firmware problem. |

I swear, I have never seen more people have problems with their computer than you guys. Good god! I saw MSN. MSN's webpage has a tendancy to go down alot and other webpages work. Always always use www.yahoo.com to test the interenet because yahoo is always up and yahoo has the correct time. So it lets you know if your viewing a current page or a cached page. Second, its sounds like your dns failed. Sacred probably connects using tcp/ip. And your internet uses DNS. Next time that happens go into your command prompt ( start -> run -> type: cmd) then in the command prompt type: ping www.clankiller.com. If you get a reply dns is working. If you dont, type in a IP address of clankiller. type: ping 62.152.98.205 if you get a reply then dns is down but internet is still up. If not, your have connection problem, reboot computer, reboot router, reboot cable or dsl modems. If that dont work call your ISP. |

not to mention we didnt even try MSNs page, every site was down. We're not stupid enough to see only one page not working and then run round screaming the entire net's dead stupidest thing was just how after mole restarted his comp, MSN wouldn't sign in, but I was still talking to Ox with no problems. we thought of trying to reboot router, but we can't unless we can get on the router page. Ah well. Point of note: Mole's comp is the one always having the problems, leave mine out of this hehe |
