Around £650 for a new system. Slow? Ive heard its quite good compared to AGP cards. Mind you, i could proabbly upgrade, right? |

well, you have to have a PCIExpress bus to use it. PCIExpress is technically faster than AGP, but we haven't hit a performance boundary with AGP yet...so, basically, the improved architecture doesn't mean shit yet. It's still all about the card's performance. |

to see how slow it is look here: http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphi ... index.html trouble is, since you seem to have given yourself about a £40 budget for the graphics card its gonna be difficult to find an alternative if you really want pci express. if you stayed with agp and you could stretch to about £90 you could get a 9700 pro, which is still a decent performer for the money. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/ ... eries.html it'll stomp on the x300 |

Hmmm, i too look for new graphics card. What should I get? GeForce or Radeon? This far, i am a geforce fan, and I'm willing to save to get the top end ones, but last time i checked, like for like price on radeon to geforce, i could get a better Radeon for the same prices as a worse Geforce. |

really depends on how much you want to spend. apart from the old radeon's better for HL2, nvidia for doom3 crap, theres not a lot between them really. same thing really, have a look at toms hardware guide and compare some benchmarks. then just look at the prices. the 9800 pro's are dirt cheap, the 6600gt is supposed to be a good card, etc. one card to keep an eye out for at the moment is the x800xl, supposed to be as good as the 6800gt but about £40-£50 cheaper. blah.. |

Thanks for the info BJ. Youre the GPU Pimp! Do PCI Express mobo's have an AGP slot? I only have one other option with the computer package im going for, and that is the 256MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 6800 for an extra £110. Is it worth it? |

erm..without looking i was always led to believe that its either a pci express mobo or a vga mobo. not both well, the 6800 is certainly worth it, esp for only an extra £110! i believe that satis has a 6800 agp, although th bfg oc' version, i'm sure he'd let you know how good it is. |

I had a peep at the benchmark thingys and apparently its about 3 times better than than the X300. Bah, anyway, the orders gone though. A X300SE will suffice for now. |

hehe....6800 rocks! It's nice to be able to run any game at 1024x768 with all prettiness maxed AND antialiasing turned on. :p Except Star Wars Galaxies...that damn thing hurts my machine something fierce. But yea, definetely a nice card to have. |

Someone should sabotage Satis' gun and sneak into his house to steal his pc. |

I have taken first steps towards SLI solution, in a week or so i will have the first 6800 ultra, after that its mobo changing time, then in some distant uncertain future, will get the other 6800 ultra. |

lol, Peltz you will have supreme power. Will the SLI solution run over 2 PCI-X slots? |
