Not on a whim no, but I personally had almost half of all possible NPC's die or turn on me (and then die). Depending on the choices you make and how they feel about them, most of them have a chance of attacking you at a given time.

I'm pretty sure the duration of a poison is standard 60 seconds, regardless of the skill of the maker or who uses it. Which means it's always a good idea to give melee characters at least one rank in poison making, allowing them to apply poisons and use grenade flasks. My main was/is actually a master poison maker, and produces grenades all the time for my party to help in the tougher fights (my main tanks and the rest pile on the grenades).
Also, concentrated magebane...recipe is very expensive and only a master poisoner can make it, but it's SO incredibly powerful against tough spellcasters. Drains their mana relatively quickly, leaving them near powerless.

I never really thought of it that way, but yeah, now you mention it, those are some pretty sharp parallels (not so much on the citadel as on the other stuff imho though).
I guess some extent of similarity is bound to come from the stock of epic literature/storytelling anyway.

Seems like J and Satis both gave in to the lure of Dragon Age's epic awesomeness on that steam sale. Coolio.
Satis went with a Dalish Elf he told me, no idea about J but I'm guessing a Human Noble rogue? Or City Elf?
One thing though...you guys both bought the standard edition, while the deluxe edition was on the same sale for about 3€ less. Not that it's a huge deal, the main difference is that Warden's Keep isn't included in your bundle (and some items that are less important). It's a cool sidequest but nothing earthshattering, and not really worth the 10 bucks they're asking for it seperately.
Pretty lame of steam to direct you to the standard edition from that sales page, though. I can imagine you would have splurged the extra 3 bucks on the deluxe edition if you knew.

Also, you guys will need to install this tiny mod for optimum enjoyment:
http://social.bioware.com/project/463/
Adds a permanent storage chest in your party's camp. You'll thank me, seriously.
