Well, shit: Bioshock 2 will come with online activation, Securom, 15 installations install limit and to save the game (!) and play online you'll have to use Games for Windows Live aka the Monster that Ate your Savegame. And yes, all this will also apply to the steam version. I'm out. I had a feeling it was never gonna be as cool as the original again anyway, but this made it an easy choice for me. Maybe if they ever get rid of all that shit I'll buy it one day, but for now the most likely option will be just to pirate it (if it's any good). Bah. |

We'll see. The original had Securom and I was thankfully not bit by it, but that piece of crap HAS bitten me before. GRAW2... I remember that pain keenly. I actually had to reinstall my O/S because Securom fucked up my temp folders. Since then I've learned how to work around the problem, but I still blame those bastards for fucking my PC up. I don't take kindly to that. |

Yea, I read about that. No more securom install limits! Just games for windows install limits. Nice. How about... no more crapware? The wonder of 'achievements' is not worth the pain of having to deal with all this extra shit. To be honest, all that signing up for crap really put me off of Dragon Age. It's also all the worthless complexity that kept me from getting any DLC for it... I actually clicked the DLC button at one point (second playthrough) but realized it was too much of a pain in the ass to deal with. You want me to spent money? Make it easy. |

You mean the DLC that didn't come with the game right? Cause it'd be a pretty big loss if you never met Shale. Other than that I agree. What's with all these "MS/Bioware/whatever" points you need to buy before you can actually buy the DLC? Whatever happened to user-friendliness? And you know what's completely bizarre? MS points only come in "fixed" amounts, like 500, 1000, I dunno. But crafty moneyleechers that they are, most of the products for sale are (eg) 400 MS points or 900 MS points...making you spend money you don't want to spend if you just buy that one thing, and of course motivating you to buy more. Now, deprived as that shit is, it makes sense from one pov: MS makes you jump through GFLW hoops in order to make you spend more money than you want to. Bioware points, otoh, can be purchased in exact amounts. DLC costs 250 points? You buy 250 points. While I obviously do not mind NOT having to pay extra like on GFWL, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. Why not just pay a dollar/€ price if you can buy exact amounts of Bioware points anyway?! Wtf? |

I did NOT get any DLCs, including Shale. Had they made it easy, I would've bought that and the keep thing. But they did not and I refuse to jump through their idiocy. I agree on the points thing, it's the age-old con. Plus we all know the value of money (more or less), but when you convert that into something like MS points, we lose the concept. "Oh, 10,000 points, that's not much, I have that", only to realize that's a ridiculous sum. They pull the same shit at carnivals with carnival tickets. Anyway, I hate all that crap and refuse to play their games. |

Seriously, you need to get Shale, for at least one playthrough (also, you don't need to buy him, he comes with every new game for free - unlike the Keep which isn't worth it tbh). As I recall getting his DLC to work isn't more than going to a certain Bioware page and entering the serial code, and he's by far the coolest NPC of the game. He's useful, very different from your usual NPC's and goddamn HILARIOUS. No matter, your game. I'll strongly suggest you get him for at least one playthrough, as he's simply brilliant. |
