Call of Duty
Anyone played the Call of Duty demo? Very impressive imho, and that's not even the part in Stalingrad which looks to own even harder. I think that anyone who's faintly interested in WW2 will want to play this game...you get to play with the americans (well-armed large groups), Brits (specialist small teams) and the Ruski's (huge amounts of soldiers, crappily armed)
Can't wait for the Stalingrad part...apparantly it starts out like this: You're in a boat on the Wolga in the midst of the bombings with other conscripts, with the officers at the helm saying they'll shoot anyone who tries to flee battle, and they actually do so to. then when you get to the shore you're given some ammo, and told to follow a guy with a gun and take his gun if he dies. So, a huge human meatgrinder you could say. It'll be a change to run into battle with some crappy ammo in my hands instead of a chaingun.

Lol - I've had the demo for ages....
And yes - it owns.
Btw - if any of you want a copy [legitimate copy] of this for about NZ$40 [US$20] I can probably get you one. Plus Shipping of course.
My dad is travelling to S.E. Asia very frequently at the moment. I'm getting him to get me one when it comes out.
Likewise with most games.

Ok, Shipping is about ~NZ$6. That's with the slow delivery option [max 3 weeks wait] and to the US.

hehe, I appreciate the offer. But I'm an instant gratification kinda guy (I'm American, after all). I'd rather pay more and get it immediately than pay half and have to wait for it. Don't worry, my culture is infecting the world... you'll be there eventually.

Heh - I sympathise with your sentiments. But I'd still prefer cheap and a few weeks late than over double the price and immediate.
Btw - when is COD's release date in the US? It's November 5th here.... And my dad is away then [comes back on the 6th], so he's bringing back some copies - me and my mate are going to sell them on trademe [like ebay] for a profit

hmm... according to gamespot:
"Activision announced today that the upcoming Infinity Ward-developed action title, Call of Duty, is confirmed to release on October 29, 2003, marginally sooner than the previously announced early-November 2003 release date."

I have religiously played op: flashpoint. Even made some missions for it (long deleted, unfortuanetly). Fun ass game. Though some of the campaign missions were just stupidly difficult.

Did you play Splinter Cell, Satis? Playing it atm, great game. Also first game that doesn't run smoothly when i turn up all the fancies. But without some gfx options it still looks mighty fine.
EDIT: and yes, played Operation Flashpoint. Great game, but i don't think you can compare it to something like CoD, two totally different types of gameplay.

no, I've never played Splinter Cell. I'm not too much into the sneaker games. I much prefer outright confrontation, death and destruction. I tried playing Thief once, and I just couldn't do it because I tried to kill all the guards. Played Metal Gear Solid, too... cool game, but I really hated not being able to kill everyone.
