Yeah, the umpteenth of those lists, but I can relate to this one a lot (of course I would shuffle around some titles). Worth having a peek. :)

'SPOILER':

Falcon 4.0 never played it
Diablo played it
Doom played it
Unreal Tournament never played it
Deus Ex played it
Grim Fandango played it
Fallout played it
System Shock 2 played it
Crysis played it
Starcraft played it
C&C played it
Company of Heroes never played it
The Sims played it
WoW played it briefly
Simcity never played it
Call of Duty played it
Mechwarrior 2 played it
Rome Total War played it
Sid Meier's Pirates never played it
Half-Life played it
Battlefield 1942 played it briefly
Baldur's Gate II played it

I differ from you in that:

Played
Unreal Tournament
Company of Heroes
Pirates

Not played
System shock 2
Crysis
WoW
Mechwarrior 2
X-Com

I don't think these should be up there:
Company of Heroes
Unreal Tournament
Pirates

I think these should be replaced:
Unreal Tournament with Quake
Civ 4 with Civ 2
Baldurs Gate 2 with Baldurs Gate 1
Rome TW with Shogun TW

I think these belong in there somewhere:
Broken Sword 2
Tomb Raider
Left 4 Dead
Counterstrike

I'd be tempted to replace Rome Total War with Shogun Total War

By Pirates! they mean the original, I'm sure. I played that one and it was unbelievably awesome. Almost total freedom in a graphic world...during the days of DOS. Unheard of.

Yeah, they mean the original. I didn't play it as it first came out but it was still a pretty amazing game when I did. Awesome fun. And Derf, the remake was still pretty good...just not up to the standard of today's 'ambitions' a game should have. But then you have games like CoD4 who are awesome in a way but in another just a freaking scripted on-rails shooter. We can thank the consoledorks fo that. :?

Derf, BG2 was better than BG1 dawg! :P Better villain, better NPC's (more interesting), overall much sleeker, better resolutions, bigger world, more side quests...but the villain takes the cake. Sarevok was cool as villains go, but Irenicus was a whole different ballgame. BG2 is to this day the single greatest fantasy epic ever made, for me. I will, however, agree with you on Civ 2 > Civ 4. :)

Never played Shogun, so I'll take your word for it that it's better than Rome. Otoh, it is set in Rome. For me, 50% of the awesomeness of RTW was getting to lead a Roman faction, getting suction with the Senate and People, double-crossing other Romans with my family of degenerates and of course fielding legions and using Roman tactics. Shogun may be cool and all, but I doubt they were Roman. ;)

If L4D2 proves equally or more amazing as the original AND Valve somehow integrate the two games into eachother (creating one huge platform to provide for the community) L4D might be making any personal '25 best games ever' list of mine too.

Yea, BG1 was an unexpected, massively awesome game. But then again, Elder Scrolls was pretty freakin' unexpected and amazing too... Arena being my first taste, then Morrowind. Oblivion wasn't so great because I knew what to expect...and probably expected too much.
