Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
I decided to stop all games purchases until (at least) christmas sales. Too much backlog. Also, as history has shown over and over again, games like Skyrim will only get better (and come with bundled DLC) thanks to mods in 6 months to a year from now. I'm getting a feel that it's better to be behind the bend...cheaper games, more quality. Not that I'm regretting buying Deus Ex at half price though.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
FYI, CIV 5 is on sale for 75% off... $12.50 instead of $50. Also all the need for speeds at 75% off.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
I really liked Alpha Protocol. If anyone's looking for a 3rd person sneaker/shooter, I recommend it. At that price, it's a steal.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
/me found Alpha Protocol ok, but nothing more than that...still, at 2 €, go nuts. You may like it as much Satis did.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
I finally got Metro 2033, now that it's 2.5 € on Steam.

Alice: Madness Returns on sale this weekend for 50% off. For $15, I totally picked up a copy.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
Halloween weekend sale on steam, focusing on a slew of scary and/or zombie-vampire-horror-themed games. The stinger is that I've seen lower prices on almost all of the games before, so unless you're starving for a game it might be worth waiting it out until Christmas. One exception: Amnesia for 3 €.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
I loled that Vampire Bloodlines apparently retails for $20 normally, though it's on "sale" for $5. It's a great game and all, but it's freaking ancient.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
Yeah...I'm not sure why they're trying to flog it on steam instead of going to gog for a cheaper price. Well I KNOW why, but it sucks. The fact that Troika is long gone and the entire game image and legacy is now in the hands of the publisher may explain the extreme price pushing for a game that old. The indie website indie royale has a somewhat impressive launch sale http://www.indieroyale.com/4 games, all of them register on Steam Nimbus - 10 € on Steam, 80 metacritic, puzzle-ish game Sanctum - 10 € on Steam, 70 metacritic, FPS tower defence game ARES extinction - 10 € on Steam, 68 metacritic, action side scrolling shooter Gemini Rue - 8 € on Steam, 82 metacritic, adventure/story-based game So not a bad deal given that the current price is 2.5 €! It'll rise as the deal lasts though, so better get there asap. I mostly did it for Gemini Rue which I've been eyeing for a very long time, but thought 8 € was a little too steep. So these 4 for 2.5...not too shabby

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
hah, yea, I think I'll pass. I don't mind picking up indie games and supporting the developers and all, but for every 5 indie games I buy, I play maybe 1 or 2 for more than 15 minutes. I probably finish 1 in 10. That's not such a good ratio. Then again, I may hit 20 crappy indie games and then get 1 Terraria that makes it all worth it. *shrug*

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
Yeah. Or Clash of the Titans, if your recent gaming habits are anything to go by. Peltz gave me the Tropico 3 expansion Absolute Power, from my wish list. Thanks Peltzmeister! Game still kicks ass...alien invasions, hippie islands, cooking up a chupacabra hoax to lure more tourists to the islands...fuck yes. And not to mention playing a (mostly) benevolent dictator of a banana republic, obviously.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
I've been eyeballing Tropico 4, but I think I'll hold off. 5 days till skyrim, after all.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
Yeah it's still too expensive. Maybe once it drops below 20 dollar (for you) or 7 € (for me haha). Ugghh...MOST NOT BUY SKYRIM. P.S. Rage is on a 33% sale...for those interested
