Re: Ubisoft replaces Starforce with other insane DRM
Guess what? http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/12/31/const ... oft-games/WHich basically makes it like Steam (well, almost, since you CAN play steam games offline for a long time once they're installed). But if this is confirmed, this means there isn't a huge problem with buying an Ubi game on steam anymore, since the systems would overlap anyway. This is another step forward (or is it back?) after they announced RUSE would use steamworks and not the Ubi DRM http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc& ... 7471048678

Re: Ubisoft replaces Starforce with other insane DRM
better....but still unacceptable. If I want to play Assassin's Creed 2 while I'm on an airplane... why the fuck can't I? Still not buying until they fix that.

Yeah, true. I'd think the steam versions allow that now tho (I would suppose they're integrated with steam's "offline play" feature at least). But I have no idea.

Yeah, crap. Looks like it hasn't improved yet.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/Ubisoft-D ... 37666.htmlMore love from Ubisoft towards its paying customers. This shit is exactly the reason why I haven't picked up any Ubisoft titles.

Re: Ubisoft replaces Starforce with other insane DRM
Yeah, I haven't bought any Ubi games (new or old) since the always-on DRM, and it's becoming ever so clear that was the only right decision to take. Take your paying customers offline for an entire week, while the pirates can play the game as always? Really?! There isn't even a backup plan to relocate the game servers for a week? Wow...that's about as low as you can get in terms of customer service.
Conclusion: Ubisoft shits in the face of PC gamers. WHy do they even bother porting games to the PC? Bah.

Re: Ubisoft replaces Starforce with other insane DRM
Who says it's for PCs only? There was some talk recently of DRM activation servers and crap moving to "support" consoles as well. I'm certain that Ubisoft will be the first aboard that ill-advised train(wreck).
