Saw something cool on tv (Terzake, maybe ox watched it too) about some professor which believes people turning into cyborgs (kinda) is the next step in evolution. He did an experiment earlier, where he was in the US, a robot-hand in the UK, and he was connected to it through an implanted chip and the internet. He could control it, feel what the hand was feeling. By looking for more info on it, this prof Warwick seems to have been on CNN as well: http://www.playcenter.com/think/feature ... mplant.htm |

yes, the concept is quite concieveable for the future. Ive seen a program on this too and they were talking about using upgrades and stuff for the brain, vision and shit like that. |

Yeah that should be the next step, upgrade yourself into a 'cyborg', it's that or creating machines and computers that could become (potentially) a menace to people. Question is: "Is mankind still the same with all these electronical thingies in the body?". I could do with an upgrade of my vision. |

Answer = Yes. As long as our will doesnt change and we still fundamentally think as beofre, then yes, we will still be humans. Think of it abit like upgrading your body by going to the gym...The changes to our body are fundamntally unnatural but it doesnt necessarily change us altogether. |

personally I don't think cybernetics will ever take hold. I think the future is biological... gene therapy and things like that. They seem to hold the same promise for improving the human condition, but instead of implanting something inorganic you trick the body into growing whatever it is you want. Granted, the technology isn't as advanced as cybernetics, but it's only a matter of time IMO. |
