I guess this could go under "movies" but it's not really the same so eh... Started Watching Stranger Things 2 recently and about 6-7 episodes in. I daresay this season is even better than the first one so far. Clearly, as a child of the 80s and early 90s I have some irrational nostaligic attachments to the setting and the music, but still. Also saw Twin Peaks: The Return and loved every weird second of it. Pretty amazing to see Lynch do the Lynch thing in 13 episodes of 50+ minutes in 4K. Curb your enthousiasm is back as well, and has been as sharp as ever as far as I'm concerned. Below clip is him visiting Salma Rushie for advice on how to deal with the fatwa that has been put on him after he insulted the ayatollah. Game of Thrones has of course been slowly going down the drain last season, narratively speaking. As fun as the show still is to watch, it is now so rushed and full of plotholes compared to the first few seasons that it just feels like a completely different show. Oh well. Still watching though, not gonna pretend like I'm not having fun. But instead of this beautiful slow chess game of politics and covert alliances it is now just big set pieces and good vs evil. They even failed to kill off any really important characters, if you don't count Littlefinger's ignoble (and lame) death. Let's hope next season brings some nuance and drama, but I sincerely doubt it. |

Watching little finger trying to scheme his way onward and getting pwnt was strangely satisfying. However, yea, the season was pretty weak. Far too predictable and standard. I guess like so many other things, it's been pacified for general absorption. Finished watching Sense8. Too bad it got cancelled. There's some sort of finale still forthcoming, but I doubt it'll satisfy. Mr Robot. Still amazing and mostly realistic regarding hacking. I enjoy this, even though it can be difficult to watch at times. Star Wars Rebels. It's Star Wars. Still mostly for kids, but it's Star Wars. :p Finished watching Orphan Black. ugh. What a waste of time. Don't do it. Despite some good moments, it mostly sucks. |

Burn notice - finished this one maybe half a year ago or so. Liked it very much Babylon 5 - Re-watched the whole thing. Still a great show. The Librarians - Made it to season 2 then got bored. Sanctuary - Just finished season 3. Will go for season 4. Ok, nothing spectacular but not boring either. |

I literally have no idea what most of those shows are. I think I don't watch enough TV... I did realize recently that there was a third seasong of Fargo and it was really, reall good. Makes me want to move to small town in Minnesota and get involved in an extremely unlikely murder plot. Also watching season 3 of The Strain. Like the first two seaons it's pretty standard popcorn fare vampire TV but what else do you need? |

We're currently watching "High Score" on Netflix which you might all enjoy. It's about the history of video games, but not necessarily the history you'd expect. For example we've watched 3 episodes so far. The first was all about arcade games and Atari plus how things like enhancement packs were created to 'mod' arcade machines. The second one was all about the rise of Nintendo and how they broke into the American market. And the third one is all about RPGs. I was a happy nerd when a man appeared on screen, wandering around a large house beautifully furnished with all sorts of things such as swords, suits of armour and a space suit. I say to Niall "ooh Richard Garriott". 5 mins later indeed, it's confirmed it's Lord British himself. There was an extensive bit on both the Ultima and the Final Fantasy series but also some really interesting stuff on how we moved from text-based to graphical games. I didn't realise an RPG was the first ever PC game with graphics; all previous ones were arcade/console games. It can get a little... goofy at times but definitely worth checking out if you have Netflix and are looking to waste a little time. |

I've seen an episode or 2 Pev! I actually got a Netflix account now so it showed up on the main screen one day. It was fun enough but it didn't immediately grab me either. Maybe it was because it seemed quite arcade/console focused and less on PC. But like I said, I only saw the first two episodes, so perhaps there's more to come. This week I've been watching the Wild Wild Country documentary series about the rajneeshi cult in Oregon in the 80s. It's a great documentary and it really takes you along for the ride in the cult's public descent into madness. I can't help but loathe the people involved too...I'm not a group or cult kind of guy. So almost all of what they do or say goes against every fibre of my being haha. Still, it's always good to understand the psychology of these people and movements. I'm still slowly making my way through all 7 season of Star Trek: The Next Generation and will occasionally put on something silly in the background like the Ancient Aliens tv series. It's so much fun. If you see them all in quick succession you start seeing the ways in which they're trying to make their ideas look more believable btw. It's always something like "is it possible that X is a remnant of an ancient extraterrestrial civilization? Ancient astronaut theorists believe so." Yeah, it's POSSIBLE. Technically. But it almost definitely isn't hahaha. |

I was more interested in some of the later episodes, mainly the RPG one but I think a lot of it grabbed me simply from having worked in games retail. I might prefer my PC but it's fun to see where all the big console franchises came from too. Ep 3 was my fave so just watch one more! We're not really watching much right now, other than The Boys on a Friday when it's put up on Amazon. I believe Mandalorian is starting at the end of Oct so we'll watch that when we head down our friend's on a Saturday (I watch purely for baby yoda) and waiting for the South Park Covid special next Weds. I'm sure they won't take the piss out of politicians, scientists and panic buyers at all! Nope! |

Oh man, I love the Boys so much. It's a bit depressing, since the real world is definitely reflected in it, but I'm still totally loving it. Besides that we're also watching Brave New World (it's ok) and the second season of Infinity Train, which I think I like way more than Shiny does. In our queue but not yet watched is Raised by Wolves. |

Just watched the final episode... they sure don't hold back! I get what you mean, it's a bit sad to look at this exagerrated, over-corporate world and think "Yeah... I recognise all that" but it's also fun. I think I'm appreciating something a little different following the years of Marvel movies which I do enjoy, but are all very samey. I've just seen the trailer for The Stand (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l--4gu4CQBM) and it looks pretty good. I love Stephen King books and this one particularly. Speaking of BAD TV, as you know I'm a HUGE Terry Pratchett fan. I've been hearing what they're doing to "The Watch" series and been 80% not looking forward to it anyway. They released a trailer yesterday. I'm now 100% never watching it. Put it this way, it's the equivalent of making Lord of the Rings, but all the hobbits are tall, sexy and hairless, Gandalf is the comic relief (and female and lesbian), the ring-wraiths dance around in sunlight and Treebeard is a speedy ninja. That's how accurately they've stuck to anything. |

The Boys is Amazon. The Stand I believe is going to be on CBS in America so hoping it might come to Netflix in the UK (they often seem to win the rights to their shows) |

Just saying, but everything is available on biuttorrent. Shiny and I have subscriptions to Amazon, Netflix and Hulu. Everything else we watch through alternative means. But oh man, the Boys is so good. I'm really looking forward to the Mandalorian season 2... that should be popping up soon. Shiny and I started watching Raise by Wolves recently...that's on HBO. Only watched the first episode, but holy crap, it's insane so far. |

Lol Satis well yes I do have a site I use but if it's available easily on Netflix I prefer that 99! One of if not my favourite shows. We're rewatching the entire show for the third time. It's Scrubs all over again. Hilarious, heartfelt and real. I like to think I'm a combo of Amy's geekiness mixed with Diaz's violence |

I'm surprised there isn't any of Gina's insanity in there. And yeah, I know about the other options...but I'm a bit worried about the crackdown in a different country. When I was still living in the other one I was fairly certain no one was ever gonna care unless I really overdid it, but who knows how they do it here. |
