A Glance Into Derf's Weird Mind
Finally got time to do this... What do you see in ordinary bathroom tiles? These are just some of the more prominent "features" (from top to bottom): - Angry man - Weird ghost - Gnome - Large face, skyward glance - Pretty scary demon - Friendly Venetian mask - Vacant ghost

Re: A Glance Into Derf's Weird Mind
Oddly you've touched upon something I love to do. I guess it's not that 'rare' as the human mind is trained to make recognisable shapes and patterns to help us understand things. However, There are many places where I've just been staring (Again, usually in the bathroom) and spotted pictures.
I like to try and remember them, and see if I can still see it next time I'm there. There were a few on my moms bathroom tiles, some above my old bed in my parents house, some in the carpet in my Mom's bathroom too.
Come to think of it, most of this was at my parents house. Now I'm usually staring at something that is moving, or I have my eyes closed and I am still listening to whatever video is playing. I guess is true in more forms than one. Not just being to busy, but simply not giving ourself the time to notice the world around us.

Re: A Glance Into Derf's Weird Mind
If you spend a lot of time in the bathroom staring at tiles, you may wish to re-evaluate your diet. I used to see stuff everywhere when I was a kid... I mean, I knew it was illusion, but I could see shapes in clouds, trees, grass, paint splotches, etc etc. Later, when dabbling in hallucinogenics, that was even more pronounced. Shapes and patterns in everything. You could see the patterns in chaos. Now, not so much. I keep myself busy, and even if my body is at rest, my mind is still going. Maybe I should take the time to meditate, or explore hallucinogens again.

I can place most of Derf's "tile visions" pretty well. Just one of them is less clear to me. And Satis, when you spend around 3 hours a day on trains and buses (and 95% of the time people are annoying and/or talk so you can't read) you learn to stare aimlessly into distances or at walls and the backs of chairs in front of you. :p Wish I had money for a good netbook/laptop for budget gaming on the train. Well, I do, just wouldn't be a good investment.

I figure this is as good a topic as any to post in. I read some online comics... one had this I was bemused. This is from http://sluggy.com

haha, not sure where the cat-man part would come in, but the serial killer parka hoodie is spot on.
