Gas heated to 2billion K
Check it out...some peeps at Sandia National Lab have managed to heat a gas to 2 Billion degrees Kelvin... or 3.6 billion degrees F. And they don't know how it happened.
It's kinda buried in the article, but supposedly more energy was released from the reaction than put in, which is always nice. And there's speculation that some new sort of power source has been tapped into.

Now, that kinda makes me wonder when we're going to inadvertantly discover some unknown property of nature and unleash destruction on our planet. Like if we accidently make a superdense black hole, or several kilos of antimatter by accident.

Could be very useful tho. Imagine the ways of generating electricity you could do with it.
