Satis, 11b? Youre in Texas right Sat? And 11b are you close by?
If so, are you guys thinking of getting the hell out of there?

The most I'll get in Dallas is some wind and rain. 11b, however, is right on the water. I assume he's probably evacuated. I know all of Houston is under mandatory evacuation. Same with Galveston. Luckily everyone I care about has gotten out of dodge. Not that I care about alot of people.
I'm just amazed they're evacuating Houston. That's a big fucking city.

well, we didn't drown an entire city, so it can't be quite as bad as Katrina. Re-drowning New Orleans doesn't count.

Im back! Sort of. Im at my step brothers house in Tombal, Tx which is next to Houston. Im using my wifes work laptop that has verizon broadband internet. For the past 3 days I was up in Toledo Bend, its right on the border of Louisiana and Texas on a lake. Almost right where hurricane Rita ripped through. In Toledo nobodys cell phones work or land lines. We had no power. Luckly we had water and sewer, at least our cabin did. There are trees blown down everywhere up there. Its amazing nobody died. There are tree leaning on houses, trailers, cabin, and tons on power lines. Trees laying across the roads. Its a mess. We had 1 radio that we where able to gets some local news on but we didn know what towns around us had power, gas, or ice.
We knew we werent going to get power at our place in Toledo so I knew we where going to have to leave. My father-in-law didnt want to leave because they where afraid they would run out of gas so my wife and I took off, (like scouts) and went from Toledo to Houston.
I went through Jasper (got hit bad), Woodville, Liveingston,Cleveland, to Houston.
All along the way no stores where open, no gas station pumping gas until Humble, Tx.
People where camping out at gas stations. It took me about 4 hours to get from Toledo to Houston. Hwy 59 was blocked off at Liveingston because the part of 59hwy that passes over the Trinity river a barge had rammed the bridge during the storm or something.
Its just crazy. All along the way from Toledo to Houston its like a war zone, National Guards troops moving around, trees over roads, power lines down even over the roads. People waiting in long lines to gets ice and gas.
About from I-45 in Texas(roughly)to lake charles,Louisiana nobody has power.
The west part of the eye of the hurricane went through my town and county, Bridge City and Orange County. I have/had a large pecan tree in my backyard and my dad said its now leaning on my chimney. The top part of my chimney broke off. The tree was surround by a deck and the tree was up rooted. Im glad because I wanted to cut that tree down anyway! Everyone fences in southeast texas are blown down. In Orange county they said if you had a tree on the north side of your house there is a 50/50 chance its laying on your house.
They said in Beaumont there are powerlines down all over the streets.
Its just amazing.
Whats even more amazing is the media. Early in the night before the storm hit land and we still had power at our cabin we where busting out laughing at Shepard Smith and Gerlado on Fox. Gerlado was in Port Arthur, Tx (where I work) and Shep was in Beaumont, Tx. If was just so funny listening to them talk about our area.
Of course since nearly nobody died in southeast texas and there wasnt any black people to exploit, Im not surprised to find that the media is still milking the 9th ward in New Orleans. I ever heard Gerlado comparing Port Arthur to the 9th ward. Everything in the media revolves around New Orleans and the 9th ward. Its funny. Since noone died and there to black people chanting "SAVE US" theres is no story, even though millions of people are without power and/or water and or sewer and no gas.
Well, my step dad and brother just came in and my step-brother talked to my step-sister and her house has a nice fat oak tree through the middle of it.
Anyway, we are truly blessed that southeast texas didnt get hit by the storm surge. They predicted my whole area was going to be wiped out.
Peace
