lol. Can't you just go to the late show? Pretty much guaranteed there aren't any kids at the 22h screening of a movie like Transformers 2...but then, I wouldn't put it past the people who think it's a good idea to take their kids there in the first place.

The only thing I heard about the new Star Trek movie was a female friend of mine saying she practically had a meltdown at the theatre because of how hot new Spock was.

lol. Man, sounds like there are some real issues with people being an ass in theatres over there...not that it doesn't happen here, but I rarely ever have been annoyed by someone in the theatre. On occasion a small group of unruly street kids, but that's only in the inner city.

I was reading a book by David Sedaris a few days ago, an American who lived in Paris for a few years, and one of the things he noticed was that in France people were much more inclinced to stay silent at the movies than in NY.

He had some movie horror stories from back home about a guy actually sitting at a movie following a sports game over a radio (!), about people calling on their cellphones during a movie, people talking to each other without really trying to whisper...etc. But then, maybe that's just NY.

Who watches the Watchmen? Satis does!

But cool that you guys finally saw it, and liked it too! Man, that intro was something else eh? How they crammed an entire 'backstory' about the heroes' origins and the alternative history of the USA the story is set in in those 5 minutes was just wonderful. Like the . Sheer visual brilliance, and probably one of the best intros I've ever seen.

My one criticism of the movie was that, for people unacquainted with the graphic novel, it could be hard to get the finesses and the deeply-rooted motivations for everything that happens and the characters do (simply because some shots are left out to keep the movie's length down). And that it can be a little static as far as scenes go (and Silk Spectre II's acting was a bit off too).

But other than that...visually extremely impressive with some very deep characters (Dr. Manhattan comes to mind, even Nite Owl II, but especially the Comedian), a lot of moral questions and a finale that is as brilliant as it is understated and spawns even more moral dillemma's. Ozymandias is a brilliant 'villain'...like how he explains his plan to Rorschach and Nite Owl II and then is offended when he realizes that they think that he still need to put it into motion.

Like I said though, his motivations are 'clearer' in the comic. There is a scene during the meeting of the second generation of watchmen (the one where the Comedian scoffs them and burns the map) when Captain Metropolis, despairingly, says "but somebody has to save the world" to Ozymandias etc.

But the real highlight is the Comedian. He is the mirror by which the others are judged. Like the scene with Dr. Manhattan, as he shoots the pregnant woman. Good stuff I think a lot of people didn't like it cause they expected something else of the movie. It's a "superhero" movie but at the same time it's anything but that. It's about morality, about nihilism, and about people who have been broken by the times finding themselves again. Not exactly the sort of themes your average Hollywood blockbuster loser can wrap his head around.

I really enjoyed the movie. When it comes out on DVD I'll definitely be grabbing the extended cut or whatever doesn't remove all the deleted scenes. I also plan on getting a copy of the graphic novel at some point.

To me it's a very 'real' hero movie. All the heroes are just people, even Dr. Manhatten. And they're all flawed, some far more than others. The comedian was horrific in ways, but very human in the end.

Anyway, I really liked it, it definitely is up as one of the best movies of the year for me.

I watched "The Onion Movie." It had some good moments in there, while its nothing mind blowing it is defenately above average.

ive just seen Bruno, mostly cos someone else wanted to watch it, not me.

Anyway, it's pretty bad. It uses the shock factor wayyy to much. If it was up to me, i would have walked out in the 1st 15 mins. Too much cock on screen too.
