Re: 2010 World Cup
I'm hoping for a Germany - Netherlands final (that would be the first final since 1978!). But Germany will win that, they're the only impressive team this tournament. But let's scale tonight's hurdle first.

Re: 2010 World Cup
I can't see anything in your post but a slide bar Arathorn. But I'm assuming it's an expression of joy. I saw the game and, well, I may not be their biggest fan so my judgement could be considered not very impartial, but it was hardly a convincing win again. A monster goal from Gio and a positional offside from Van Persie for the second goal (he didn't touch the ball but Muslera couldn't see anything with him standing there) paved the way. Robben's header was pure class though. In general, they played with long balls too much, the midfield drowned for most of the game and Stekelenburg looked shaky. And Van Persie should be replaced with Huntelaar up front, he's not a real striker. Overall a deserved win, but I'm hardly convinced this Holland can take on Germany or Spain in the final. They'll need to play the game of their lives. But it's football so...never know!

Re: 2010 World Cup
I agree it was pretty worthless again. The central defence is extremely vulnerable. They still don't know how to keep the advantage after scoring, and have a hard time scoring. Van Persie should have been replaced games ago, but Van Marwijk is very loyal to his base team. Van der Vaart didn't do anything right. Let's hope another meagre result helps the Germans to underestimate us.

http://www.sporza.be/cm/sporza/voetbal/ ... panje_wintThe oracle octopus predicts a Spain win in the final and Germany winning the play for third place. I'm off to bet my life savings.

Re: 2010 World Cup
Dammit! With that octopus on our side we certainly would have won. It's becoming difficult now...

Re: 2010 World Cup
haha, the Dutch have tried to find their own octopus to discredit Paul's incredible oracle powers. http://news.yahoo.com/video/world-15749 ... s-20792485At least Paul is impartial!! He predicted the Germany losses and now he has nothing to gain...Pauline on the other hand!

OMG I used to have that type of bird. African ring neck. He was my little baby. I hand fed him every two hours when he was young and he would ride around on my shoulder everywhere I went. So miss that bird.

Just an hour and a half... I think we're gonna loose, but we do have a chance.

Re: 2010 World Cup
Ah well...
I actually didn't really enjoy that final. Way too many stops due to fouls and too few chances cos both teams were playing rather defensively (4-2-3-1).

Re: 2010 World Cup
I was only half listening to it whilst playing games, switching back to watch occasionally. I wanted Holland to win but oh well, not like Spain were exactly a bad team... just didn't seem as consistant throughout the tournament. It was getting irritating keep stopping and starting for those dozens of yellow cards.

Re: 2010 World Cup
Well Spain was better. You could see from our fouls, we were often too late. But the ref was worthless prick. And I don't think any neutral viewer enjoyed that final.

Re: 2010 World Cup
I don't reallly see how and why Holland should complain about the ref (he missed one very obvious corner kick, true, but they should have gotten at least 1 more red card).
Not a very interesting game indeed, way too many (dirty) fouls. And it's a miracle how van Bommel ends the tournament without getting the red card, he probably could have gotten one in any of his matches.*insert vomiting smilie here*
