I was watching tv yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by a relatively low-budget tv movie called 'Ring of the Nibelungs'. As the title suggests it's based on the Nibelungen-saga and Wagner's adaption of it. It's a melting pot of a few different stories but it comes out great.
I actually think it was a short tv series made into a 'movie'. Either way, very enjoyable, the more if you're not too familiar with the Nibelungen saga already. The only problem I had with it is that it's a bit long and that some details don't make too much sense, probably because of time-related footage editing (like with LOTR). But the acting is good, the special effects surprisingly well done and the story packs all the classic elements you could expect from one of the greatest myths of Northern Europe.
