Calculating
I'd never heard of this technique before, but it seems like an incredibly easy way to calculate the results of large multiplications:

I was watching it, but then i noticed that the second calculation was taking aaaaages. Then I looked down at the comments and someone pointed out that he was using digits no bigger than 3. Turns out to be very impractical.

I just did it with 568*345. It becomes more work but not as tedious as I expected. Off course, it's less work to multiply each number and add the results, but I like connections between plain boring maths and visual representations of it.
