Hmm, getting prisoners bitten by dogs is that a standard procedure?
Saw a bit of a documentary of people that were in Guantanamo, but appeared to be innocent. This one guy had done totally nothing wrong and had spent 2 months in Khandahar i believe, then a year in Guantanamo. The american army has promised lots of money to people that turn taliban-fighters/al qaida-fighters in. So in a poor country that Afghanistan is, you're bound to end up in trouble. This one guy was 'sold' for 5000 dollars. Another guy (also innocent) was turned in by business rivals that wanted to take his business over, for 10 000 dollar. This system is fucked up when you use it in poor countries.
Some examples of 'standard torture' they had to undergo: for 40 days, they were exposed to constant light and guards were making noise by drumming on containers. If they looked an american soldier in the eyes, they had to stay in the full sun on their knees for 12 hours, next time is was 24 hours. Their hands and ancles were twice the size because they were constantly wearing coves (sp?).
Though to swallow if you're innocent.
I understand they want to get their information as fast as possible, and saying please won't help much indeed. But you could pose some questions on the ways they gather their information. Like the 'exposing to noise and light', when does the standard procedure become torture? After 40 days i wouldn't call it standard procedure anymore. And what the hell could a regular soldier have for valuable information i wonder? And lots of other questions.
They rerun the documentary right now i notice, see if they show anything else interesting.
*146 Guantanamo prisoners are released atm, prolly innocent otherwise they wouldn't have been released*
*they lined the prisoners up, then released the dogs. jeej*
*Geneva convention says: respect for physical and psychological side of the prisoners. Those photos say something different*
*Guantanamo prisoners aren't Prisoners Of War, but terrorists according to america, so they have no rights
. That's just playing with words, that's like saying 'i plomise' and not keeping your promise, you didn't have to because you didn't say the exact word.*
*These pictures could feed the hatred against the western world, more terrorst attacks maybe, that's what we needed*
