But then I encounterd the improved Mencar Pebblecrusher battle, and when sobe of them used a certain spell/ability (not sure which) the game would crash. So I re-installed and restarted after that.

Didn`t have any strange bugs so far apart from the game crashing once when i died. But i was dead anyway and it didn`t happen anymore (so far).
I just checked and i have both Tactics and Improved Battles as well. Did you have specific problems (i.e. crashing or so) or did they just put too many enemies on the same spot?

ah okay found it. It could indeed be this is what`s causing your troubles, i see it adds `banter`so it is working with speech/dialogue stuff. Can you uninstall it? If it was WeiDU you would be able to do it, but as you say it`s non-weidu prolly not.
In that case: reinstall or try to restore the normal dialogue i would say.

EDIT: tried to install the soa patch again, just in case and got a message saying no need.
tried the tob patch again and it installed
i KNOW i installed it before anyhoo, fired up the game and now it will allow the dialogue. damn twisted shit. maybe one of the mods overwrote a lot of stuff.

i also installed the baldurdash fixpack that solves other bugs, but i thought the `busy-bug` should be resolved with the standard patch
Maybe install the ToB-patch again, could be that with installing some mod the issue came back although i doubt that is possible
*edit* although the UB install guide says that " As usual, UB should be compatible with most other WeiDu-based mods, and should be installed after all official patches and preferably the Baldurdash Fixpack. UB should work with or without the Throne of Bhaal expansion pack."
